Came a question: === Hello Ben I know you don't like to answer questions unless it's a customer. I have bought all your books on Amazon if that counts. I have recently found you and listened to all of your podcasts both of them. My question is how do I build a list while making my product? What is the incentive for people to get on the list and how does it work? Thank you for your time. === Translation: "I bought all your books on Amazon & listened to all your 230+ podcast episodes except for the ones about list-building" Yeesh. My opinion: I could literally hand this mope the upcoming February Email Players issue detailing over two dozen ways to grow or even add entire new income streams onto a business, and sometimes without even requiring an offer⦠walk him through it word for word, and even open whatever program he uses to write emails with⦠and it wouldnât do him a lick of good. How do I know? Because heâs still wandering the goo-roo casino. The goo-roo casino is a term I invented many years ago to describe this phenomenon. Personally, I despise casinos. Even more than I despise airports. But I canât help but admire how they get away with psychologically manipulating schmucks even when theyâre losing into thinking they are winning â by the way the machines react with pretty flashing lights and music, and the way the numbers are presented. Itâs quite brilliant in its deviousness. Now relate that to the so-called internet marketing niche. It works nearly the exact same way â and unfortunately a lot of otherwise-smart people die (figuratively) penniless in the goo-roo casino, even as they think they are âwinningâ via buying yet another bright shiny cool sounding eBook all their other goo-roo casino pals on Facebook just bought, or by joining yet another coaching program everyone they know is talking about, when they havenât even consumed, much less learned, the prior books/programs/coaching they invested in. Which brings me back to the guy above: Assuming he really did consume all my content he obviously didnât really listen to it. If he had, he wouldnât have asked that particular question. I canât do much to help guys like that. And this is especially the case with the February Email Players issue: It teaches all kinds of different email-driven mini-business plans that nearly anyone with the ability to write and send an email can do, but wonât if they are still stuck in the goo-roo casino, addicted to the pretty sounds and fun lights of the latest product launch, and canât muster up the patience, ambition, and character to pick one of the ideas inside, and see it through. One last thought about this: Many years ago I heard the late comedian Patrice OâNeal give advice to a guy in his mid or late 30âs who was dating a younger woman in her early 20âs. The guy was frustrated and confused by the womanâs flaky behavior. And Patrice said: (paraphrased) âYouâre trying to give her wisdom, but sheâs not ready for wisdom.â Literally how a lot of newbies in business are. They arenât ready for wisdom. They are looking for shortcuts, hacks, and tricks. The February issue contains no hacks or shortcuts. But, I daresay it does contain a lot of wisdom. If you want the latter, and are past the former, this issue is going to the printer just three short days, after which itâll be too late to subscribe in time to get it. So if you want it, best hop to it while you still can: [httpsâ¶//www.EmailPlayers.com]( Ben Settle This email was sent by Ben Settle as owner of Settle, LLC. Copyright © 2021 Settle, LLC.
