Not long ago I was flipping through a 1989 Marvel Comics one-shot title called: “Marvel Year In Review” Basically, a Time Magazine year in review parody. It also had parody ads in it, too. Including one with Dr. Doom pitching the benefits of vacationing in Latveria: “I’ve lifted the curtain on Latveria’s relaxing new travel package so you can enjoy a rustic, romantic, super-hero-free vacation in Europe’s most pristine secret hide-away. Remember, I want you enjoy yourself, and in Latveria, my word is law!” And it got me to thinking. I’ve been reading Dr. Doom stories since I was but a wee lad. There is something like 60 years of Dr. Doom lore. And just as sure as God made little green apples, the way he was (originally - no idea what Marvel has done to him now, probably made him a girl for all I know) conceived by Stan Lee there’d never be a mask mandate — metal or cloth — or jab passport required in Latveria. If a bunch of unelected bureaucrats who are obviously on the take tried imposing anything on his will or country he’d be more likely to use that as his excuse to conquer and subjugate them. And he would be right to do so... My opinion: "Dictator" Dr. Doom's country is literally more free than all the Western so-called democracies. Including in many ways Creepy Joe’s USA. Whatever the case: If you like this sort of thing, you’d probably dig my Villains books. They are all about persuasion & influence methods used by the world’s most charismatic and successful villains. And unlike my other books, they are ridiculously inexpensive — especially on Kindle.
