One of the most useful tools a business owner can study is Vox Day’s: “Socio-sexual Hierarchy” Not for trying to figure yourself out. But so you can better predict other guys’ behavior, (including buying behavior) and to determine whether they are likely to be a problem customer, toxic client, a troll to be dispatched from your list, or just someone you should work with, JV with, or do business with. The hierarchy only applies to men, not women. And he breaks it down like this: * Alpha * Bravo * Gamma * Delta * Lambda * Sigma * Omega I highly suggest Googling it and studying it on your own. I’ve been using the info for over 10-years in my business and it’s been extremely useful. In this email I’m only going to cover the Gamma. Vox writes about them in detail in his “SJWs Always Double Down” book. Which I also highly recommend. And from a socio-sexual point of view, this is one way he defines them: “Bitterness is the chief hallmark of the gamma. They are bitter about many things, but above all, about men who are more successful with women than they are.” I would add, extremely bitter about those more successful than themselves as well. I’ve seen quite a few of ‘em over the years.
Some flashing red “tells” you’re dealing with one is if they tell you they are a male feminist, if they constantly prattle on about “social justice”, or if they write walls of text in their email replies, social media comments, blog comments, YouTube comments, etc. All but guaranteed gammas. Another big tell: Everything is a victory even when they’ve lost. Vox calls them “secret kings” — a fantasy fiction trope, written by gammas projecting their desire to be seen as the rightful alpha, ruler, and king over everyone… but nobody recognizes it. In business, I call them “secret gurus” — who are bitter and jealous of anyone more successful than them. They fixate on people they hate or are envious of for years — even decades — unable to let their pain of rejection, humiliation, or losing go. I recently heard of one of these guys who spent most of a podcast interview with a big audience whining about me and my email methods instead of promoting himself and his own methods. Very strange behavior for a marketer. But what’re you gonna do? Anyway, they are also the guys (for example) who insist they are never wrong about copywriting/marketing/email, etc, and always giving dumb and/or unsolicited advice about making money, even when they are always broke and can’t make a sale to save their lives. And so, to protect their egos, they claim they could be multi-millionaires if only they wanted to be… but don’t care, don’t need to, etc. All lies, of course. They’re also the guys who type “lol” when caught in a lie or have clearly lost. You can witness this all day long on social media especially. My favorite analogy I heard about them that perfectly sums up their mentality: The popular captain of the football team (alpha) walks by an unpopular gamma. The jealous gamma utters some snarky comment under his breath thinking nobody heard. But the captain hears it, picks the gamma up in front of everyone, and hangs him on a hook on the wall by his underwear. The gamma’s tortured-by-rejection brain still declares victory as he hangs there, even as he’s being laughed at by everyone, while saying: “Joke’s on you! This made me cum!!!” i.e., even when beaten and humiliated, they secretly won in their own minds. This is difficult for ordinary men who are not driven by jealousy to understand. But I suspect you’ve seen this from people. Especially if you have dealt with trolls. I have yet to see a troll who does not have these and many more gamma tells. For example, here’s a recent email conversation I had with a gamma: === GAMMA: Hello! hope you're doing well. Would it be possible to have a tax receipt for my purchases with this information please? Thank you :) ME: The emailed receipts the cart auto sends are the only receipts provided. GAMMA: Please unsubscribe me from your list. I don't appreciate that "in your face" approach. It's offputting. It's funny to see how your business is based on clients yet you can't even help them out with something so small. === So I proceed to cancel it, and move on with my day. But then after I canceled his account, the bitter gamma still couldn’t let it go, and literally argued with the automated email the cart sends those who cancel that says they will not be able to re-subscribe later: “That's perfect! I'm not planning on joining again so don't worry haha” Yeesh. He was a rather tame one though. My all-time favorite gamma example is a (former) “Email Players” subscriber who kept repeatedly nagging me to look up and document some information he could easily have done himself by going to the sales letter he subscribed to Email Players from. But I decided it was easier to simply cancel him than waste time with his constant pestering. After which he spazzed out in magnificent gamma glory: (Profanity edited so as not to upset any delicate spam filters) === “you know I teach classes and have hundreds of students and I never refuse to answer a simple little question like I asked you. YOU F—— SUCK! big time I’ve seen your pictures and your a little b—ch whose tune would drastically chance if we were face to face. You’re a coward who would never pull some sh—t like this if you were standing in person with me… Hide behind your cowardly internet you faggot, because that is all you can do! f—k off! With Great Love & Respect, N === The “Great Love & Respect” signature was priceless. I have yet to see a more perfect specimen of gamma troll. And that was just one of the drama queen emails the gamma has sent me since. But, what’s instructive here is their constant and obvious projection. With these guys I have noticed everything they say about someone else is what they feel and/or think about themselves. Examples: "You suck!" = "I feel worthless and it makes me angry!" "You're a little b-ch" = "I get called a little b-ch all the time so I'll do the same to you to feel better!" "You're a coward hiding behind your keyboard!" = "I cowardly hide behind my own keyboard but it makes me feel like a tough guy to project it on someone else!" And so it goes... The most fascinating part about them: The more self-loathing they are, the more these little doggies posture & bare their teeth and nip. That's why it's all but impossible to get mad at them when you understand their tormented psyches, much less take them seriously, or do anything but pity them, while also shamelessly & mercilessly exploiting their rage to make sales for your business. So there you have a crash course on gamma males. It’s better to read about them from the source though. I am but a student of it all myself. Either way, use & profit from it at will. Speaking of which: My business has profited immensely from gammas/trolls over the years. If you want to learn how to potentially do the same check out my Copy Troll book. It’s on sale until tomorrow. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
