Last year, I wrote an email about a bizarre California law that basically makes being a freelance writer in that state unsustainable. No idea where that all stands now, nor do I care. But what was far more hair-raising was a response I got to that email. Specifically, from “Email Players” subscriber John McDonald, who sent me a link to the Yale Law Journal making the case for the FTC to shut down any kind of “persuasive” advertising beyond just the bare minimum required to describe what’s being sold. i.e., make direct response marketing illegal. That’s what I’m talkin’ about. More pointless laws, strangling regulations, and anti-business lovin’ imposed on small companies, and especially direct response marketers, who this would effect, with the big billion dollar brands unaffected as usual. Here’s the point: Imagine “persuasive advertising” was banned, outlawed, and outright criminalized. Does that mean we’re all toast? Probably, if you are just following direct response marketing guru-approved selling. But in my way of thinking, it is not nearly as devastating to businesses who possess the information inside the upcoming April “Email Players” issue. If anything, by utilizing what I have dubbed Sixth-generation marketing warfare you can be way ahead of any such curveballs and probably even profit from it should it happen. No guarantees of course. But then again there are never any guarantees in the theater of war. Especially the theater of marketing warfare. But, I believe what I teach inside the April issue — that I do in my own businesses — can take a lot of the “sting” out of all these big government, big media, big tech, big law, and other big forces colluding against you and even give you complete marketplace dominance. You’ll have to see it for yourself to know for sure. Something you can only do by subscribing to the April “Email Players” issue in time. The deadline is coming up fast. If you are the procrastinating type, I suggest doing something about that. And if you are a current subscriber with an expiring or recently-hacked credit card, I suggest figuring your business out as well. No exceptions will be made. I am canceling & clearing out ALL overdo accounts & turning Email Players off in the cart for a while right before I send this issue to the printer.
