One of the more useful things about writing fiction is: Freedom of speech & expression. What I mean by that is, you get to “say” things you couldn’t say in polite company, or that might get you in trouble, trolled, or even outright canceled if you were to say them as “you." The flip side is, you also always have people wondering if what you wrote is based on you or them or someone else specifically. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been asked: “Is that character based on your brother?” “You’re such a racist!” “You are obsessed with sex!” And so on, and so forth. Whenever someone says something stupid like that I just reply: “The only autobiographical parts are when the monsters eat people.” At the same time: All my characters, like my business books, Email Players Newsletter, etc are, in some ways, based on aspects of my personality or my disgust, ideals, philosophies, goals, worldview, agendas, thoughts, desires, inspirations, attitudes, inspirations, things or kinds of people I despise, things or kinds of people I like, etc. This all applies to business & marketing World-Building as well. i.e., building a World your customers & clients love to enter, and hate to leave. Where buying, hiring your business, whatever it is, is near automatic. And where they might not even think of buying from anyone else. On that note: The double-sized 13-year anniversary August Email Players issue (deadline to subscribe is tomorrow) talks a bit about World-Building, but mostly from the visual & design-side of marketing.
