On a Twitter Spaces call last month I mentioned: Video games. If you want to be alerted when I do these impromptu calls live, go here: [( Back to the rub: Specifically, how early on when learning about this business some 20+ years ago I would do things like play video games — rather mindlessly — with some training on in the background about copywriting, marketing, email, selling, recorded calls with clients about their market and product, and whatever it was I was learning. Personally, I am not a fan of modern video games. And so I did this with the old school NES games. (From the late 80’s and early 90’s) Like, for example, the Dragon Warrior games. And Final Fantasy. The Zelda series. And the Castlevania games. Just mindlessly playing these ancient side-scrolling games. In the latter game’s case it has become supremely ironic. Why? Well, I will let Email Players subscriber Kam Jennings explain: === Hey Ben, FYI. There is this video game called Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, and in that game there is a special kind of armor that you can get called Berserker Mail. This armor is interesting because it increases damage severely both ways. Damage you dole out is increased, making you a beast of a player, but also damage you take is increased, resulting in you dying in 1 or 2 hits if you take damage. The point is, this armor is not for amateurs. It's for the bad asses who can go through that game and take almost no damage. Flawless runs. So I thought it was interesting that you guys named your platform Berserker Mail. It's like the platform is for serious email marketers. Same as the armor in the game. Anyways, just a side quest story I thought you might find interesting. === None of this will add anything to your life, of course. That is, unless you use BerserkerMail, I suppose, and appreciate what we've created. Ben Settle P.S. When you follow me on twitter make sure you follow the BerserkerMail account on there too. You can find it easily enough. I only follow 36 accounts, simply look for the accounts I follow at the link above and you'll see it there. This email was sent by Ben Settle as owner of Settle, LLC.
