So I told one of the attendees at an event I taught at. This was several years ago (circa 2016) at the esteemed Greg Gomez III’s “Fast Start Summit.” And this was specifically in a room of his Platinum students where I spent an entire day abusing them via ripping apart their presentations while we critiqued them. One of the most common (to the point where I told this practically to all 20 or so people in there that day) pieces of advice I had to give was: “Needs more gore!” Lots of gore. The more gore the merrier. In this case, most of the people in that room were selling some kind of health supplement or product spanning all kinds of conditions. And the one thing all their stories lacked was lots and lots and lots of horror, gore, and pain. Now, I’m not just talking about literal gore. But, for example: There was a story about once almost falling asleep at the wheel from exhaustion. That right there was about the extent of the chick’s story. Boring. Nobody cares. So I showed her how to gore-up her story after getting some more information out of her about the incident (it was far more horrific than she thought — as she could have injured or even killed a little kid that was in the backseat of the vehicle she almost fell asleep behind) and how to help make it so persuasive people who hear it/read it/watch it (however she wanted to present it to sell her offers) might have literally no choice but to lean in to read, engage with, and want to buy from her. Certainly they would not easily forget her, her story, or her offer. This “needs more gore!” secret is one of many I teach inside: “Email Bastard!” Doing this will NOT make you more liked or adored. I can almost guarantee you that. But, at the same time, it absolutely can help make your business more sales as well as make you more respected.
