I don’t listen to a whole lot of podcasts. But there is one I do listen to that has nothing at all to do with business, marketing, or the usual suspect topics. And every single show, at the end, the podcaster spends — no exaggeration — what seems like at least a full minute listing off all the other ways to find his podcast and content. i.e., YouTube, Stitcher, SoundCloud, iTunes, mobile app, Facebook, Twitter, his website, one of his other websites, and probably 8 or 9 other places. None of which, I will add, were telling them to get on his email list. I’ve long noticed him doing this on all his podcast episodes. The time spent rattling off the other platforms is not all that big of a deal. But what is a big deal is the loss of attention/engagement/and action-taking as a result. If I knew the guy (I don’t) and if he asked (so he hasn’t), I’d tell him this: 1. Do away with that cumbersome ending 2. Have one call to action, and one call to action only (i.e., “sell only one thing at a time”) 3. For no other reason than, if they are listening via whatever their favorite app is they are listening to him on (the norm for most people), there is no reason to tell them to go listen on yet another app. There is literally no point in it. 4. Only plug an opt-in page/mailing list instead as the one call to action. 5. Give them a ton of cool stuff (with legitimate retail value — ebooks, courses, access, whatever) if they opt-in. 6. Once opted in to his list, he can include a list of all the other apps to find him 7. Until then he’s his own worst enemy And it’s too bad. But this is the state of the world today when it comes to marketing. Instead of funneling people onto an email list that they own as an asset to begin & grow the relationship... far too many send everyone to someone else’s platform and asset where it’s much harder to begin & grow the relationship, and where that platform can be yanked from them in a heart beat should the powers that be choose. All roads should lead to the email list. Yes, that is my biased opinion — but it also happens to be a fact. If you want to use the world’s only “Email Players-approved” email broadcasting/autoresponder platform then simply get a free BerserkerMail test drive. It’s a platform created by email marketers (me and my biz partner in SaaS Troy Broussard - nuke engineer-turned-software developer), with support run by two other Email Players subscribers (our COO Nicole English and Lance Hunt) who both use email and the platform in their own respective businesses, with world class inbox deliverability based on a unique, 50+ point process for curating, scrubbing, & amplifying the response of lists… with most everyone else involved with the platform either a client or Email Players subscriber. A very tight knit operation of people who want you to dominate in email. And who are eager to also show you how. There are many more reasons than those to use it. And you can read about them here: [https∶//www.EmailPlayers.com/berserker]( Ben Settle This email was sent by Ben Settle as owner of Settle, LLC. Copyright © 2024 Settle, LLC. All Rights Reserved. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
