But our hands-on design team has indeed learned to adapt while being physically cut off from their team and suppliers. Our lead designer, James, has a few tips on making it work. If you can’t convince people using cardboard, tape and staples, you’ve not found your idea yet. Simple materials can validate complex thoughts. We pivoted our range based on our team’s collective work-from-home needs. Our personal challenges inspired new projects that invigorated us all. Communicating remotely is not natural. Send video links, drawings, mind maps and photos before connecting live. Use your time to explore the content, rather than introducing it.](

Being cut off from our suppliers and sample makers, we had to start validating our designs locally – which means making and testing in our own homes. If you’re creating something for people right now, it pays to consider the rapidly changing environment. Design comes way more naturally when you understand what environment the end user will be moving through – so ask as many people as you can to build a clear picture.](
