I am thinking of you today. Please take care of yourself and feel free to skip this message if you need. {NAME}, I wanted to take a moment to wish every mom on this team a Happy Motherâs Day! After the past couple of years weâve had, each and every one of you deserves a trophy â or at the very least, a moment of peace. Motherhood is unconditional love, sacrifice, immeasurable joy, and complications. Itâs hard work thatâs often overlooked and undervalued in our society. Despite this, I know that there is no work more important than cultivating the next generation of leaders and changemakers â which is why Iâm committed to fighting like a mom for our families in Congress: As a mom, Iâm fighting for paid family leave, because I know how critical it is that new parents are able to spend precious time with their infants. As a mom, Iâm fighting to defend reproductive freedom and access to contraception, because decisions about when and how to grow a family are deeply personal and belong with individual people â not politicians. As a mom, Iâm fighting for higher, fairer wages so that parents can put a roof over their childrenâs heads, healthy food on their kitchen tables, and provide the necessities their kids need to grow and thrive. As a mom, I'm fighting for affordable childcare for all, because parents should not have to choose between a career they love and safe, reliable care for their young children. As a mom, Iâm fighting to fund our public schools, because I know that a quality education sets kids up for a lifetime of personal and financial success. As a mom, Iâm fighting to make progress on Americaâs mental health crisis, because I know that both teens AND adults need support to navigate the challenges and stressors that come with everyday life. Fighting like a mom means passing policies that will uplift Americaâs working families and make life easier for moms, dads, parents, and step parents across the country. To all the moms out there: know that I am in your corner, and Iâll always fight with parents and kids in mind in Washington.
