Struggling with mental health doesn’t make you weak: It makes you human.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ {NAME}: We need to talk about mental health. Earlier this year, Pennsylvania’s newly elected Senator John Fetterman came forward to seek help for his struggles with depression. While getting the help you need for mental health challenges is rare when you’re an elected leader, it shouldn’t be: Today, about 4 in 10 adults in the U.S. report symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorder, up from one in ten adults before the pandemic began. Now more than ever, we need elected officials and community leaders who are willing to destigmatize mental health by starting conversations about their own challenges. I applaud John’s strength and courage in getting help, and yesterday, his team shared that he will be returning to the Senate on April 17th. [IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Headline - Fetterman returning to Senate in April after weeks-long bout with depression]( [Before tonight’s end-of-quarter deadline, I’m asking this team to help me welcome John back to the Senate by splitting a donation of $10 or more between our campaigns to help us fight for progressive legislation, invest in mental health care, and fight for Medicare for All]( Washington.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [$5]( [$15]( [$27]( [$50]( [$100]( [More]( When I decided to run for Congress, I chose to speak openly about my own experiences with anxiety and depression. While our society often perpetuates the harmful stereotype that our leaders should be invulnerable, I know that struggling with mental health doesn’t make you weak: It makes you human.
