Today we’re tackling your first week of growth — which is the easiest week of growth. All you have to do this week is not shave — that’s it. That said, there are two things you can and should do this week to help your beard grow to the best of its ability. 1. EXFOLIATE Healthier skin leads to a healthier beard, so naturally, getting dirt and debris out of your pores is going to help your beard in the long run. You don’t necessarily need to purchase any type of exfoliating pad, as your hands can work just fine. Exfoliating can also help prevent painful ingrown hairs. If you’re new to exfoliating, two to three times per week will suffice so long as your skin isn’t overly sensitive. 2. WASH YOUR FACE You’re probably already doing this daily, but this is a reminder in case you’re not. You don’t necessarily need to shower every day, but you should wash your face at least once a day. As we noted above, healthier skin leads to a healthier beard. Want to take care of face washing and exfoliating at the same time? The [Beardbrand Utility Bar]( and [Beardbrand Utility Wash]( are both packed with ingredients that are known to dislodge dirt and debris from deep within your skin's pores and follicles while helping your skin stay hydrated and moisturized. Both the Utility Bar and Utility Wash are formulated for beard, hair, face, and skin. Both cleansers will keep you clean and can help prevent ingrown hairs, razor burn, and dry skin. So whichever you choose comes down to preference for bar soap vs. liquid soap. WEEK 1 BEARD CHECKLIST ✔ Stop shaving ✔ Exfoliate ✔ Wash your face daily ✔ Use [Utility Oil]( to help prevent beard itch Next week, we’ll take an in-depth look at how to handle your 2nd week, AKA the beginning of the awkward stage.
