Monthly news from [Brené Brown]( | [View this email in your browser]( From Brené Welcome to the monthly newsletter. Let's check in. Our team starts every meeting with one-word or two-word check-ins. We go around the "Zoom room," and each person shares a word that captures how they're feeling. These words have ranged from tired to determined, from angry to anxious, from TGIF to duct-tape-and-glitter, which, when you add hyphens, has been ruled as (technically) one word. We're experiencing a swirl of emotion right now. We're moving through a lot of tough "todays" as we try to build a world that brings better tomorrows. We need more justice work and less pandemic (wear your damn mask, please). Recognizing and speaking our feelings is key, so I’ll start with a one-word check-in: GRATEFUL. I'm grateful for this community. Thank you for showing up, for speaking truth, and for starting all over again. Every. Damn. Day. Big News! [The Gifts of Imperfection - Available September 8th]( The Gifts of Imperfection is turning 10 this fall! We're celebrating with our first hardcover edition (including a new foreword), a free webinar series, and a new Wholehearted Living Inventory that you can take online. We'll also explore The Gifts when the 2nd season of Unlocking Us launches. Read more [here](. This book was an invitation to join a wholehearted revolution. “A small, quiet, grassroots movement that starts with each of us saying, 'My story matters because I matter.' Revolution might sound a little dramatic, but in this world, choosing authenticity and worthiness is an absolute act of resistance.” You accepted the invitation and we traveled together, making our way through the ten guideposts and around the globe in 35 different languages. The Gifts celebration is really a huge thank you to the community that it gave birth to — that’s you! The latest from Unlocking Us [Brene Brown Unlocking Us Ask Me Anything ]( From FFTs to AMAs, we have had the best time — and by the best, we mean the hardest and the most insightful 17 weeks we could imagine. Some days it’s impossible to get our brains around how much is happening in the world right now. It’s an honor to talk through and unlock some of it with you and our guests. We are taking a summer hiatus for the next few weeks, but we’ll be back with more unlocking soon. [Unlocking Us - "Being held accountable for racism and feeling shame is not the same thing as being shamed." Brené Brown]( Four incredible guests on justice, antiracism, and equity. Look for the episodes here and join the conversation: [Austin Channing Brown]( [Tarana Burke]( [Laverne Cox]( [Ibram X. Kendi]( Reading & Loving [all about love by bell hooks] Re-reading [bell hooks']( [all about love.]( For the 20th time. [Antiracist Baby by Ibram X. Kendi] [Ibram X. Kendi's Antiracist Baby]( It's never too early to start talking about antiracism work. Watching & Bingeing [Michaela Coel on I May Destroy You ] Michaela Coel, the creator of HBO Max's [I May Destroy You]( has given us a raw, daring and beautiful show that explores sexual assault and consent. Coel has a profound understanding of vulnerability and empathy. [Sally Rooney Normal People ] Sally Rooney's Normal People ([her book]( the [Hulu]( adaptation) is exquisite in every way. In the Studio [Brene Brown Unlocking Us Podcast Studio ] Our podcast studio is aglow thanks to the beautiful sign by the neon artist, [Evan Voyles.]( You can follow him on Instagram at [@theneonjungle](. He's restored and built many of the iconic neon signs along South Congress Avenue in Austin. Sadly, we finished our podcast space three days before we shut down our office. We haven’t used it yet, but we’ll be back! Stay awkward, brave, and kind!
