[Gail Schwartz]( {NAME}, I need you to understand what happened in North Carolina last month: [TWO shootings halted classes at UNC-Chapel Hill – one of which took place on the FIRST day of classes.]( After the first shooting, students described cowering behind their desks. They said they texted their loved ones frantically. They even climbed out of windows high off the ground to escape academic buildings. [A week after the first shooting, the students from UNC-Chapel Hill went to the State Legislature to protest bills to loosen gun laws.]( They were kicked out of the session for demanding legislators take action on gun violence. The NC House Speaker even JOKED about these students – who had JUST experienced a shooting at their school – as they were led out of the building. [A few days after the House Speaker kicked UNC students out of the legislature, those same students were forced into a lockdown due to a gunman on their campus for the second time in just three weeks.]( {NAME}, how many times do our students have to go through this before legislators take us seriously? [Enough is enough.]( [We can’t waste another moment. We MUST kick every cowardly legislator out of office, from State Houses nationwide to Congress, who refuses to take our students’ safety seriously. That’s why BAWN is rallying folks of ALL ages to build a coalition of gun safety champions like never before – one that NO politician, NO legislature, and NO Congress can ignore. Can you rush $15 to join our movement before midnight? Your contribution directly supports our work to elect gun safety candidates running for office. >>]( I’m tired of so-called leaders who refuse to act while Americans bleed out in our classrooms, grocery store aisles, church pews, club dance floors, and everywhere else. I’m tired of so-called leaders who turn our fight for our lives into a joke, while they stuff their campaign coffers with blood money from the gun lobby that fuels our slaughter. I’m tired of so-called leaders offering up useless “thoughts and prayers” and then turning around and voting to make these massacres more possible. [And I’m tired of these so-called leaders believing they can lock survivors of mass shootings out of the halls of power without consequences – because they can’t.]( [{NAME}, if you’re tired too, then join our fight to OUST these cowardly lawmakers and replace them with REAL leaders who will fight for our lives. All it takes is $15 – or whatever you can spare. So, are you in? The more you give, the more we can give to the leaders championing gun safety. >>]( [Chip in $15 now >>]( [Chip in $25 now >>]( [Chip in $50 now >>]( [Chip in $100 now >>]( [Chip in another amount now >>]( Thanks for fighting alongside us, Gail Schwartz Founder, Ban Assault Weapons NOW! Aunt of Alex Schachter           BAWN is committed to replacing every cowardly and complacent lawmaker, regardless of party, that denies your right to live without fear of being shot. Legislators that support the deadly proliferation of guns, instead of common sense gun safety measures, are responsible for the carnage of gun violence -- and must be voted out. BAWN also lobbies legislators to support the assault weapon and large capacity magazine ban bills that will help put an end to the slaughter of innocent Americans. But they can’t do this alone. BAWN is relying on your support to kick every coward who refuses to protect our children and families OUT of office. Will you chip in right away?
