I’m about to ask you for $15 to help throw Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his buddies in the Florida State Legislature OUT of office for good. But first, I hope you’ll let me explain why. >>]( {NAME}, it’s been six years since 49 people -- mostly Black and Latinx folks -- were slaughtered at the barrel of an assault rifle in the Pulse Nightclub massacre. But the violence didn’t end there… Anti-LGBTQ+ violence has reached unprecedented levels across the country. And under DeSantis’ Governorship, over half of all gun violence victims in Florida have been young Black men. While DeSantis has allowed our state to become a haven for weapons of war that have devastated countless Floridians and so many more across the nation, I’m proud to have worked tirelessly alongside other gun safety champions to pass Florida’s biggest gun safety bill ever. [But we still have so much work to do, {NAME}. I’m proud to join BAWN in their fight to elect gun safety champions (like me) and ban assault weapons for good. We need to raise $7,500 before midnight to fully fund BAWN’s campaign to unseat DeSantis and every Florida Republican who stands in our way and puts our loved ones in danger. Every American deserves to feel safe in their schools, grocery stores, places of worship, nightclubs, and everywhere else. I’m personally asking, {NAME}: Will you stand with me and chip in $15 in the next 12 hours? The more you give, the more BAWN gives to their candidates dedicated to ending gun violence. >>]( Every year, 2,849 Floridians are ripped from their families by gun violence. Yet DeSantis, and folks like him, would prefer to ban discussions of LGBTQ+ life in schools over banning the assault weapons that terrorize our LGBTQ+ and Black communities. We CANNOT accept this as our new normal, {NAME}. We CANNOT stand by and allow the gun lobby and their candidates to win this November. We HAVE to make sure that the people win -- and that means electing gun safety champions with the guts to stand up to the gun lobby, say enough is enough, and finally ban assault weapons. [I know we can do it, {NAME}. I know we can defeat Ron DeSantis and every Florida Republican on his side. But it’s going to take all of us coming together and pitching in to make it happen. BAWN needs to raise $7,500 before midnight to launch their digital ads, fund their gun safety champions, and bolster their campaign to ban assault weapons.
