{NAME}, June 12, 2016, was the day I hid in a bathroom while a man with an assault rifle murdered my best friends at Pulse Nightclub. I'll never forget standing on the patio with my best friends, Drew and Juan. Drew put his arms around us and said, “You know what we never say enough? That we love each other. I love you.” Just an hour later, I heard the first shots go off. The stench of blood and smoke burned my nose while a dozen of us crouched in a dark corner of the bathroom. We listened to gunshot after gunshot. And when the second round started, I made a break for the door. I just stared death in the face, praying for a way out. The gunman was able to fire 45 rounds in one minute with an assault weapon. I survived, but Drew and Juan didn't. The week after the massacre, I swore I would never stop advocating for a world they'd be proud of – that I would take on the corruption of gun lobby greed that cost 49 people their lives that night. That's why I'm working alongside BAWN to put so much pressure on our lawmakers that they won't have any other option but to finally ban assault weapons in Florida, once and for all. And right now, I need to ask for your help. Tomorrow is our critical end-of-month fundraising deadline, and we absolutely must reach our $20,000 goal – but we can't do it without you. Falling short would mean we won't have the resources to ramp up a massive outreach effort to the Florida legislature to pass an assault weapons ban. And too many lives are on the line to let that happen. I'm doing everything I can to make sure no one else has to lose their best friends to gun violence, and I need you with me. I'm counting on you to give right now – whatever you can spare – to fuel our mission to ban assault weapons in Florida: [Please, will you rush $3 or more right now to help our mission to ban assault weapons in Florida? Every dollar you can spare right now will honor Drew, Juan, the 49 lives we lost at Pulse and the countless victims of gun violence across our country.]( If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [DONATE $3 NOW](3D%3D/?g=s6CjEFNw52herQyp4C3X9CA) [DONATE $10 NOW](3D/?g=s6CjEFNw52herQyp4C3X9CA) [DONATE $25 NOW](3D/?g=s6CjEFNw52herQyp4C3X9CA) [Donate another amount]( The saddest part of my story is that it’s not unique. But fear does not define our movement. We choose hope. We choose courage. And that's why we will win.
