{NAME}, my name is Jeff Foster, and I’ve been teaching at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for more than 20 years. In a moment, I’m going to ask you to help us reach our $30,000 mid-month match goal – but first, I need to share my story. Every year, I give a lecture to my students about the powerful role that special-interest groups play in our political process – especially how the NRA uses their money and influence to block progress on commonsense gun reform. And since Feb. 14, 2018, I've witnessed that lecture come to life in the most horrific way possible: On that day, a gunman with an assault weapon came to our school and murdered 17 members of our community – including my friend, Scott Beigel, and my student, Carmen Schentrup. The only thing stronger than the grief I felt was the anger at our lawmakers for still refusing to take meaningful action on gun reform in the aftermath of this unthinkable tragedy. I’m a card-carrying Republican, but that doesn’t mean I’m not furious about the NRA’s grip on our politicians. That’s why I’m standing with BAWN to defeat these bought-off lawmakers and elect leaders who will lead the push to finally pass a long overdue ban on assault weapons in Florida. Our movement is the best chance – and possibly the only chance – we have to finally break the NRA’s stranglehold on our gun laws. But with time running out before Election Day, we need to hit every single goal between now and November if we're going to have the resources it will take to defeat the deep pockets of the NRA at the ballot box. That’s why a generous group of donors offered to match every donation before midnight tomorrow to make sure we reach our critical $30,000 mid-month goal. With countless lives at stake in this fight, we simply can’t afford to fall short. So please, can I count on you to rush a donation right now to have every dollar go twice as far toward electing leaders who will ban assault weapons in Florida? [Donate $3 or more right now ($3 becomes $6) to have double the impact in our fight to replace NRA-funded politicians with gun safety leaders who will ban assault weapons once and for all. This couldn’t be a more impactful opportunity to help save lives from senseless gun violence.]( If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [DONATE $3 (BECOMES $6)](3D%3D/?g=s6CjEFNw52herQyp4C3X9CA) [DONATE $10 (BECOMES $20)](3D/?g=s6CjEFNw52herQyp4C3X9CA) [DONATE $25 (BECOMES $50)](3D/?g=s6CjEFNw52herQyp4C3X9CA) [Donate another amount]( I'm fighting to make sure no child is shot while at school ever again, and I hope you'll join me.
