Now is not the time to stand by and accept that daily gun violence is just the reality of life in Am

Now is not the time to stand by and accept that daily gun violence is just the reality of life in America. Now is the time to fight. {NAME}, On Feb. 14, 2018, a gunman charged into our school carrying a military-grade assault weapon and senselessly murdered 17 members of our Marjory Stoneman Douglas family. We'll never forget that horrific day. What happened in Parkland that day was horrific, but it wasn't unique. Mass shootings aren't new to us, or our generation. We've seen them rip apart communities across our country for what seems like our entire lives – all because our NRA-backed politicians refuse to do anything to stop them. That’s why, in the days following the shooting, we weren’t just heartbroken. We were angry. We knew we had to make sure that what happened in our community never happens again. So we turned our grief and anger into action: Two years ago, we organized the largest single day of protest against gun violence in history. Standing shoulder to shoulder with millions of people around the world, we protested our politicians' inaction. We registered over 50,000 new voters. And we spurred a historic youth turnout in the 2018 midterm elections. But our work isn’t done. The gun violence epidemic in America is still raging. Mothers, fathers, sons and daughters are still dying – 100 every day. While our leaders and the NRA send thoughts and prayers, we bury loved ones taken from us by senseless violence. That's why just months ago we built on the March For Our Lives movement by introducing “A Peace Plan for A Safer Florida” – a set of clear, actionable goals to combat gun violence – and included Ban Assault Weapons NOW as a critical partner in it. We need a constitutional ban on assault weapons in our state, and we must keep fighting to pass it NOW! BAWN’s ballot initiative is our ONLY chance to work around our NRA-backed politicians and ban these weapons of war once and for all. But the gun lobby is doing everything in its power to silence Floridians’ voices and block this lifesaving amendment – and we need your immediate help to fight back. Before midnight tonight, we’re counting on 10,000 supporters like you to speak out with us in our movement to defeat the NRA and finally end senseless gun violence. Because if we can get enough signatures, we can finally put this lifesaving issue where it belongs: in the hands of the voters. Now is not the time to stand by and accept that daily gun violence is just the reality of life in America. Now is the time to fight. And we need YOU to fight with us, {NAME}: [Sign our petition right now to demand a constitutional ban on assault weapons like the kind used to murder 17 people in Parkland. Every person who raises their voice by midnight tonight brings us one step closer to ending the NRA's stranglehold on our gun laws and bringing the lifesaving change our country needs.]( [SIGN OUR PETITION]( Our movement has proven that change can happen so long as we fight for it together. Thank you for standing with us, today and always, in this fight for our lives. – March For Our Lives [SIGN OUR PETITION]( This email was sent to {EMAIL}.
