Democratic strategist Donna Brazile has served as interim chair since Wasserman Schultz’s resignation. Candidates for the chairmanship include New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley, Congressman Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Jaime Harrison, U.S. Secretary of Labor Tom Perez, Idaho Democratic Party Executive Director Sally Boynton Brown, and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg. A majority of the DNC’s membership is required to elect a new chair. The largest school district holding an election on May 6 is the Dallas Independent School District, which served 160,253 students during the 2014-2015 school year. Three of its nine board seats are up for election, and six candidates filed to run, including all three incumbents who currently hold those seats. In the district’s 2016 election, 12 candidates ran for four seats, and only one incumbent ran to retain his seat.
