Click rates improved 590% - that’s right 590%. - [AWeber]( A story of success from Alycia, Zumba instructor and AWeber team member: I used to send the same email to my audience every week. I would make a copy of a previous email, change the dates, replace the links, and hit send. I did it because I didn’t know what else to write. People signed up for my emails to get my class schedules and updates. Changing the class schedule for each email became routine, but I didn’t know what other information I should be providing my audience. I had good open rates, but my click rates were sporadic. People who attended my classes clicked regularly. However, there were a bunch of people continuously opening my emails with no intention of ever joining my class. I had no idea what else they wanted to read! I was afraid if I didn’t give them anything interesting to read, they would stop opening my emails. So, I decided to give [ChatGPT]( (an AI-powered writing tool) a try — I asked, “What can I write about in a Zumba newsletter?” The results were actually pretty great. It gave me a list of ideas that instantly started to spin wheels in my brain. Before I knew it, I had a few weeks worth of ideas noted on my email calendar ([download your own free email calendar]( for future newsletter topics. People started clicking, and I felt motivated to continue writing. Take a look at the improvements. I went from a click rate average of 1.9% to 11.2% - that’s a 590% improvement. My opens and clicks used to look like this: [Click rates from Alycia's emails before using ChatGPT]( But, now they look like this: [Click rates from Alycia's emails after using ChatGPT]( I was blown away by the immediate, and substantial, improvement in opens and clicks. Needless to say, ChatGPT helped me kickstart my newsletter. And now, it continues to be part of my weekly writing process to help me write drafts or spark new ideas. -Alycia For those struggling to come up with what to write in your emails, [ChatGPT could be your answer]( too. Give it a try and let me know how it works. [Get creative email ideas to replace writing]( A tip to improve your email opens and clicks Ask any email marketing expert how you can improve your opens and clicks, and three of the tips they will all say is: - Your email needs to be relevant to your audience - You should segment your list - It needs to be sent at the right time But if you don’t know who your audience is, then how can you segment your list to send a timely, relevant email? It can actually be pretty easy. You can start learning about your audience by tagging them based on what they clicked in your emails ([see how to use tags](. Let’s take Alycia for example: Her emails may contain different links to workouts geared towards beginners and experts. She could tag people once they click the beginner workout as “beginner”, and the expert workout as “expert. Those tags can then be used to create segments. In Alycia’s case she’ll have a better idea of who she can target her classes to based on where they are in their fitness journey. You could even send out an automated email based on a link someone clicks in your email. Alycia could use campaigns to automatically send an email a day after someone clicked an expert workout promoting more advanced classes. The offer would be timely and relevant to the individual. This is called linked click automation, here’s [step-by-step instructions for setting it up in your AWeber account](. To set up your link click automation you’ll need to upgrade to a Lite or Plus plan, but don’t worry these [plans start as low as $12.50/month](. [Upgrade to send automated link clicked emails]( Create custom segment Since Alycia shared her story of how she was able to almost 6x higher click rate, I think it’s only fitting that she show you how to create custom segments in your AWeber account.
