You don’t have to wait for it to come [The Writer’ s Life]( November 27, 2023 "The future depends on what you do today." – Mahatma Gandhi Happy Monday, {NAME}! Ask anyone who knows me, and they'll say I'm an "enthusiastic" person. When I get excited about something, EVERYONE is going to know about it. But my enthusiasm isn't enough to get me out of bed and to my computer every single day. That requires motivation … Enthusiasm gets us to consider walking into the arena. Motivation is what gets us to actually enter it. We often confuse the two, but it's important to separate them … Enthusiasm is an emotion. It comes and goes like feelings of anger, joy, and sadness. Motivation on the other hand is a force. It gets us to DO something. Now, we're all motivated to do things every day … Maybe it's your job. Or getting everyone out the door in the morning fed and dressed. Maybe you go for a run. We're not necessarily enthusiastic about all these things. But we are motivated … otherwise we wouldn't do them. With the job, your motivation could be the desire to not get fired, to get a paycheck, or to feel the pride that comes from accomplishing something. With the family, your motivation could be fewer issues with the kids at school, knowing they started the day with a full tummy and will be able to focus. And with exercise, your motivation may be stress relief, overall health, or the boost of energy you get from the endorphins. (All of the above for me!) Accomplishing anything comes down to why you're doing it — your motivation. In all these examples, the motivation is clear and often built into your daily routine. You don't have to put much effort into "getting motivated." But … what about starting a new business? Or learning something new? That requires a bit more, right? How do you get motivated to sit down every day and write 1,000 words? Or put in 30 minutes every day to build your business? And what if it's uncomfortable because you've never done it before? Or you're not seeing massive progress every single day? What can you do to activate that "force?" And how do you keep it going every single day? What gets you to DO the thing? Last year I found the answer. A way to summon motivation to achieve what you want … Every … single … day. I shared it with a group of writers going through [The AWAI Model for Building a Thriving "Zero-Client" Writing Business]( training series, where each person is building a scalable business following the business model we used to build AWAI and numerous other information companies. I knew it would help them stay motivated to keep their forward progress going … regardless of the hurdles or distractions or self-doubt that can threaten to slow you down. Today, I'd like to share it with you as our Monday Morning Jumpstart … And show you how to implement it in your daily routine. It's a simple daily act that can help you finish 2023 stronger … and also set you up for massive success in 2024. What are YOU hoping to accomplish? Whether you're starting out and your goal is to launch your writing business … Or you're up and running and want to level up your clients or income (or both!) … Or you want to add in a revenue stream that has nothing to do with the hours you're working, like my friends in the "Zero-Client" Training Program … I believe this simple daily task can be a game changer at keeping you motivated to move forward each and every day. Oh, and did I mention this only takes five minutes? Totally worth the effort, right? It's simple, but don't underestimate the power. In fact, I encourage you to try out this little practice for the rest of the week and see what impact it makes. And if you DO want to build a zero-client business, and missed out on joining us for the live training … you're in luck … We're finishing the live sessions this week and I've decided to take one more group through the training. Only this time, you'll have access to all of the sessions right away … and can go through them at a pace that works for you. Then we'll get together live to go over any questions, opportunities, or challenges you have along the way.
