You can do this in your spare time [The Writer’ s Life]( November 2, 2023 "The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams." – Oprah Winfrey Hi {NAME}, When Andrew Murray realized he wanted to pursue a dream of traveling around the Australian Outback full-time, there was really only one pressing question … how would he and his wife Peta finance their new lifestyle? Online research led him to AWAI and Nick Usborne's [Money-Making Websites program](. Now seven years, and many adventures later, Andrew's writing has made another dream come true and they're off exploring Vietnam and Laos for two months! Their lives are so different from what Andrew calls the "rat race" they were immersed in. And even though they've now been able to pare down the time they spend actively working on their Money-Making Website Top Wire Traveller, their passive income continues to grow. The money has been one benefit, and their total freedom to roam is certainly another! Today, Andrew outlines six reasons why he believes every copywriter should have a Money-Making Website too. Plus, he lists seven ways you can make money writing, without clients. Throughout his journey to success, Andrew followed advice from digital expert Nick Usborne. His feedback helped Andrew make improvements to his site, and increase his traffic, revenue, and enjoyment of it all! Nick is the one to listen to — he's generated over $500,000 with his coffee site, and has created other sites now as well. Start by building a Money-Making Website. Use it to grow passive income and to get clients for your freelance copywriting business. Plus, you'll improve your skills along the way. With a passive income source, you can work when you want to work. Work where you want to work. And when you work, know you're putting money in your own pocket … instead of making someone else rich. That's a great feeling! You might choose to work at home. Or you might choose to travel and work along the way. That's what my wife and I do. We travel around Australia, exploring the remote Outback. Occasionally we head towards the coast because we feel like a change of scenery. We find a sleepy coastal village to explore and breathe in the sea air. When I need to write, we simply find a spot we like and stop for a while. How did I learn … then practice and fine-tune the skills I need to be a sought-after freelance copywriter? By building my own Money-Making Website. It's provided a passive income stream and it's brought my writing skills and industry knowledge to the attention of companies in my niche. So I can opt to write for clients — if and when I want to. I'm in control. I started building my site in 2016. Along the way, I made plenty of mistakes and hit a few dead ends. Thinking through my experiences, there's six ways I could have progressed more quickly … and made my life easier! Hopefully, these six tips will help you take control of your future in the shortest possible time frame. 1. Get Started Today You come up with an idea for a Money-Making Website. You know it'll work … but haven't taken the first step yet. What's stopping you? This is common, really common. The longer we let an idea sit idle, the more doubts creep in. Will it really work? Can I compete with similar sites? They've been going for a few years now, how can my site ever be as good as theirs? The only way to find out for sure is to give it a go! Beginning today, make a start on your site. There's an old saying about websites, "The best time to start was five years ago, the second best time is now." Don't wait another five years and wish you'd started sooner. Start now. 2. Keep Your Focus Once you start, you'll likely realize the topic is bigger than you first thought. It's easy to wander off course, exploring new paths, new ideas, new topics. Stay focused on your niche. You can't become an expert in your niche when you're constantly dabbling in new topics. That's not to say you can't explore topics within your niche. For example, our Money-Making Website Top Wire Traveller covers "Expert advice for people who love Outback travel in Australia." At first it might seem like a narrow niche. However, it has turned out to be extremely broad. Within the niche, we've identified five major sub-topics: - Outback Destinations in Australia — detailed information on remote destinations. - Safety and Survival — how to prepare for remote travel and how to stay alive if something goes wrong. - Product Reviews — detailed, honest, hands-on reviews of equipment we use. - How-to Guides — more technical guides on selecting the right equipment or installing equipment suited to Outback travel. - Truck Camper Information — lots of information on our setup, a "small" 4x4 truck with a slide-on camper. When I started, I focused solely on Outback Destinations in Australia. Over time though, I experimented with Product Reviews and How-to Guides. These two topics are way more popular than Outback Destinations. So now most of my focus is on topics 3 and 4. They're the topics which bring in the most traffic, and where we make the most money from our site with affiliate marketing. I'm simply giving my audience more of what they want. 3. Learn Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Right now, you might be thinking, "S.E.-what?" Never fear! Nick Usborne covers SEO in detail in his program. In short, SEO is a way to help Google, Bing, and all the other search engines discover and list your content when someone searches online. And the more traffic you attract, the more money you'll make. SEO is a fundamental skill you'll learn and use on your Money-Making Website. Once you learn it, you can add it to your list of skills as a freelance copywriter. This is a perfect example of how Money-Making Websites help you learn, then use in practice, the skills needed to be a sought-after freelance copywriter. You're learning on the job! 4. Test, Test, Test Earlier, I mentioned the five sub-topics on my Money-Making Website. They didn't magically appear from nowhere. I tried lots of other sub-topics before settling on these. Some were popular … others not so much. How did I settle on these five? By testing. Some sub-topics were popular, but the subject matter didn't grab me. So I let those go. Others weren't popular, even though I loved writing about them. Reluctantly, I let those go as well. Let the audience guide you. Write more of what they want … but only if you're interested in the topic. Find a balance between what you love writing about and what resonates with your readers. Keep testing … different ad styles, promotions, newsletter content, giveaways, social media channels, and so on. Every test is about learning … what your audience likes, new copywriting skills, what branch of copywriting you enjoy most. 5. Use Social Media as a Tool Social media's a great tool for getting the word out about your Money-Making Website. It helps you go beyond simply having a website, to building a complete brand around your idea. Building a brand is important. People see your business as a complete package, a professional brand that's an authority in your niche. Social media is an important part of any brand. Notice how I described social media as a tool. Right now, you probably use at least one social media channel to keep in touch with friends, find out information, or simply as entertainment. But when you start a Money-Making Website, social media is a different beast. Rather than being part of a community, now you're building a community. My suggestion to build your brand is to choose two channels. Test them for a month or two. Which one works better, which one sends traffic to your site? Keep it, discard the other one. Then try a new social media channel. Rinse and repeat. 6. Learn from the Best Nick Usborne's course starts at the very beginning of building a Money-Making Website … choosing a niche. He then takes your hand and walks you through every step of the way. You'll be learning from the best in the business. Nick has built his own successful Money-Making Website, Coffee Detective. So he knows what he's talking about. Once Nick supplies you with a suitcase full of valuable skills and guides you gently towards the door, you're not alone … far from it. His incredibly supportive private Facebook group will help answer any questions. A bunch of like-minded copywriters hang out there, all with the common goal of helping each other succeed. Follow Nick's method, take his advice … all of it. And take a look back through my suggestions, learn from my mistakes. If you do, your Money-Making Website will be up and running in no time. Now, there's just one more question you may on your mind … How do you generate income from this? 7 Ways to Make Money from Your Money-Making Website — Without Clients Monetizing your Money-Making Website is easier than you might think. And once you start earning money from it, you'll have a handy second income. Or you might choose to go all-in and make it your main income. Then you don't have to deal with clients!
