And two letters that make content marketers want to hire you… [The Writer’ s Life]( August 18, 2023 "UI (User Interface) is the saddle, the stirrups, & the reins. Always hungry for new and better content! But MORE content isn't the complete solution today. It's not enough to publish something new. Businesses need to provide content that is higher quality … higher in value … and more effective for readers. Enter [the specialty of UX or user experience copy](. Adding the dimension of UX to the creation of content means stepping up to a higher level. If you're unfamiliar, a UX writer's job is to guide the user through a website, app, material, or product by anticipating and fulfilling the user's needs. Happy users are more likely to stick around and hear what you have to say! That's why content marketers are teaming up more and more with UX writers. They stand to gain in several ways, as UX Copywriting Expert Heather Robson explains in today's article. But they need trained professionals to help them produce all the high-quality content they need. Emails … websites … product pages … FAQs … case studies … SEO … social media … the demand is never-ending! You can be the one they turn to … And you'll earn 30% more for each project you do! You can tap into the huge demand with the skills you can get from our [self-paced UX training program](. Your guide will be Heather, who's been writing UX copy for 20 years now. [But hurry, this test-drive offer ends tonight!]( Why Content Marketers Perk Up When They Hear You Say UX By Heather Robson [female freelance writing UX content on her laptop] Writing solid user-focused copy is important for just about any marketing effort you can imagine. If you're able to improve the user experience of your sales materials, readers will stay with you longer … and that means they're more likely to purchase. A good user experience in email helps reduce the number of people leaving your list. When more people stick around to receive your messages, there's a higher chance they'll convert from email list subscriber to customer. The user experience (UX) impacts websites … product pages … case studies … social media … and more. And the marketers in charge of getting these materials produced are often thrilled when you can help them make the UX better. But there's one area where marketers are actively seeking UX copywriters more than any other. And that's content marketing. Why Are Content Marketers So Keen to Have the Help of a UX Copywriter? First and foremost because content marketing is so important. Content marketing is what puts a lot of other marketing methods into motion. How do people get on an email list? They encounter content from a company and they like it, so they join the company's list. How do people find a website? They put in a search term on Google, and Google returns results that it hopes will be helpful — in other words, it returns content. How do companies know what to post on social media? At least in part, this is determined by content. So, content plays a huge role for a lot of companies. And there's plenty of data to show why. In a survey of 1,700 marketers conducted by Semrush, 55% percent of respondents said that producing more content is key to ranking higher on search engines. And 53% said producing higher-quality content was essential to better rankings. In research curated by Ahrefs, 67% of marketers report that content marketing brings in leads … 72% say that helps to educate their audience … and 63% use content marketing to build awareness. And 81% of marketers say that content marketing is core to their business. The user experience is important because the content itself is so important. But what exactly do content marketers hope to gain by working with a talented UX copywriting professional? The answer is lots of things. There are many ways that creating a better content experience for site visitors can help a company enjoy bigger success. A Better Experience Increases Repeat Visits Think about the sites you go back to again and again to read their latest content. It may be that they bring a fresh perspective to what they're covering. Or that they do good research and are meticulous about citing their sources. It could be you've applied their advice to good effect. Or that you enjoy the brand voice. Maybe, their articles are just straightforward, to the point, and easy to read. Whatever it is that you love about the sites you frequent, the experience you have is part of the reason you keep coming back. Companies recognize that in paying attention to the content experience, they increase their repeat traffic. And the more often an individual visits their site to read their content, the more likely that person will become a customer at some point. Google Looks for a Good User Experience Creating a good user experience is also essential to earning organic traffic. Google and other search engines use complex algorithms to determine which sites rank the best for a given search term. And several parts of those algorithms look at the user experience. For example, Google looks for signals that a site is authoritative and trustworthy — both key to offering a good content experience. Search engines also look at how many visitors click on a link only to return the results page to choose another site — a sign that page's experience wasn't good. By improving the experience on content pages, companies can increase the number of relevant visitors to their site. A Bigger Response to Calls-to-Action While content is often educational and informative in nature, rather than sales oriented, it still offers the reader a next step, whether that's to join a list, make a comment, take a survey, or visit another link. Content that provides a good experience increases the response rates to those calls-to-action, in part because more readers stay to the end and actually see the call-to-action. But also because well-written, easy-to-read, well-researched, fun content puts the reader in the frame of mind to take the next step. A bigger response means companies add more subscribers to their email list, make more sales, and gain more insights into their audience. More Consumer Trust Finally, content that provides a good experience builds consumer trust. Part of providing a good experience means writing content that is honest, transparent, and helpful. The more often you provide accurate information that helps a visitor answer a question, solve a problem, or achieve a desired result, the more trust you will accrue. Content Marketers Want UX Copywriters Whether you're writing an article, a special report, an infographic, or a video script, you can improve how your work performs by improving the user experience. And when you're able to consistently create better content experiences, you'll find yourself in greater and greater demand from clients who have a never-ending need for your services.
