Plus, some other benefits along the way ⦠[The Writer’ s Life](
January 27, 2023 "Magic is believing in yourself. If you can do that, you can make anything happen."
– Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe Happy Friday, {NAME}! Every morning I walk outside while listening to a business or self-development book … It wakes me up, teaches me something new, makes me feel productive, and "primes the pump" for my next task: writing. My writing always comes easier when I do it! One activity, numerous benefits. 🤩 Circle of Success Member Michele Peterson says she's always looking for ways to achieve numerous results from a single action too. And in today's issue, she delivers one of her faves … Writing assignments that come with THREE benefits: - Writing practice.
- Writing samples.
- Writing clients. Talk about a big return on your time, right? When I first met Michele, she wanted to make enough money writing to quit her job in six months. A month later she reached out to tell me she had already succeeded. She's a hustler! And today, she's going to help you get a jump on faster success too. Speaking of fast ways to find success … [Today is the LAST DAY you can get unlimited access to AWAI's popular DigitalCopywriter.com website for 30 days … for just $1.]( You get it all: the roadmaps, events, training programs, job postings … everything is included! By Michele Peterson I make it a habit to kill two birds with one stone as often as possible. And, because I tend to be a bit of an overachiever, I don't limit myself to just two birds. I go for as many as I can get with that single stone. Of course, I mean this in the idiomatic sense. I don't actually go around throwing rocks at birds. But I am a firm believer in the practice of making a single action achieve as many things as possible. It's such an efficient use of time and effort. For example, when I go to my hair stylist for a cut and color, I'll also fill up my car with gas, drop mail off at the post office, and stop by the grocery store on the way home. Doing these four things in one trip is much more efficient than making four separate trips. I regularly look for ways to improve my efficiency by making things serve more than one purpose in business, too. And that's especially true in my writing. I feel very accomplished when I can repurpose something I've written and make it do double duty. This can happen both with something I've written for clients as well as self-promotional things I write to market myself. And you can do it, too! Even if you're just launching your writer's life … Write to Launch One thing many new writers think is holding them back from launching is the lack of writing samples. But what if you take the writing you do in the process of launching and repurpose it into samples? Now, there are many different things you can do to launch your writer's life. And not all of them require writing. You can verbally tell friends, family, colleagues — everyone you know — that you're looking for writing clients and ask them for referrals. You can also attend networking events and industry conferences or trade shows. But you're a writer! So why not become your own first writing client and write self-promotional pieces to launch your writer's life? Use these written pieces in conjunction with the non-written things you're doing to get clients. And then also use them as samples to showcase your writing! Specifically, here are five things you can write as you launch your writer's life that clients might also hire you to write for them … 1. Search-Optimized LinkedIn Profile If your ideal target clients are on LinkedIn, you already know your LinkedIn profile needs to reflect what you do for clients as a writer. You may have even gone through [Ilise Benun's 21-Day program]( to learn more about how to do this. But have you considered that your LinkedIn profile is a sample of your writing? Or that clients would hire you to write something similar for them? Companies need well-written social media profiles, but they also need good "About Us" pages on their websites (a common low-risk, foot-in-the-door opportunity). Your LinkedIn profile is very much like an "About" page on a website. It's an example of your skill at both of these client projects. And because LinkedIn profiles can show up in search engine results outside of LinkedIn, this is something you should write as you launch, even if your prospective clients may not be on the platform. 2. Launch Email to Warm Audience In addition to verbally telling everyone you know that you're looking for writing clients and asking them for referrals, you can — and should — send them an email about your launch. In client-speak, this is a warm audience launch email. It's something a company would send to their existing email list announcing a new product, new service, new location, etc. Your launch email to your warm audience of friends, family, colleagues, etc. becomes your writing sample for this kind of project. One stone … multiple birds. 3. Cold Prospecting Email Sequence In addition to the warm email you send to people you know, you can also send cold prospecting emails to people that you don't know … people who are considered "cold leads." Companies get cold leads all the time, and they use email sequences to reach out to introduce themselves and their products/services to these people. And you can, too. Your sequence might look something like this: - Cold Prospecting Email 1: Talking about the prospect's copy/content pain point that you can help solve and introducing yourself as the solution.
- Cold Prospecting Email 2: Providing value with link to content about their pain point and your solution (perhaps the blog post suggested below!).
- Cold Prospecting Email 3: Talking about an additional pain point related to the first that you can also help solve. One benefit of writing your emails in advance as a sequence like this is that they're done and ready for you to customize and send to your own leads as you find them. We often procrastinate marketing ourselves and/or getting leads because we don't know what we'll do with the leads once we get them. But with a sequence already written, you're all set. And, of course, these are additional samples to showcase your writing. 4. Blog Post (can be published on LinkedIn) [Writing a piece of content]( — a blog post — that illustrates how your writing solves a pain point that your prospect has gives them valuable information and sets you up as a credible expert. For example, if you [write newsletters](, your blog post might be about how newsletters help improve customer retention and keep a company's audience engaged and receptive to promotional emails. If you write chatbot scripts, your blog post might be about the benefits of chatbots to enhance customer experience and improve conversions. If you offer [site content audits](, your blog post might be about one element of the audit. And you don't have to have a website to publish your blog post. You can always publish it on LinkedIn. And like with the other things you've written to launch your writer's life, this blog post also serves as a writing sample. 5. Social Media Posts to Drive Traffic to Blog Post Once you've written your blog post, you want people to see it. (Clients want this, too. So, once again, you're acting as your own first client.) And using social media to drive traffic to content is a strategy proven to work really well. So, write the social media posts that you'll use to drive traffic to your blog post. Plan your posting schedule. Then publish the posts according to your schedule AND save them to use as writing samples. Write Just One Thing Today You don't have to use all five of these suggestions, although you certainly can! And even if you do, you don't have to write everything today. But I bet you could write at least one of them today. And if you scheduled the time to do it, I bet you could write all of them within the next few days. To get the writer's life, you have to write. You have to launch. You can kill two birds with one stone by treating yourself as your own first client. And you can start today. LAST CHANCE:
