What is a Site Content Audit? 🤔 Simply put, it's an audit of a website's content strength via the messages in headlines, body copy, calls-to-action, graphics, SEO tags, and more. The goal of a Site Audit is to identify gaps and opportunities to improve the instant impression by the reader and how the content may or may not support leads and sales. As I mentioned, it's also a way for copywriters to get their foot in the door with clients and then expand the role by writing the improved content (something you should be doing with every writing project you take on to maximize the value!). According to Jon … "You need to know how to do Site Audits, which is improving existing content for quick wins. If a client comes to you with an existing website — what's really helpful is if you can tell them, here are four things you can change to start seeing results in 30 days." As a skilled freelance content writer and consultant, you can offer a Site Audit to quickly assess if a client's website answers these questions in the visitor's mind: - What or who is this company?
- What do they offer that meets my needs?
- Why should I choose them over competitive options?
- What's a strong reason to engage here, or take the next step?
