I'm sure you've heard from others, as well. "Baited is the past form of the verb bait, which means to tease, harass, or put food (or bait) in a trap. A hook, witness, or animal is baited (lured, enticed, tempted). The word bated is a clipped form of the past tense of the verb abate, which means to reduce or restrain. Breath is bated." —Thoughtco.com I know the misused, "baited breath," is working its way into the mainstream. But at this point, "bated breath" is still the correct one. But I'm in love with your new copyediting program.❤️ Of all the past jobs I've ever had, copyediting has been my favorite. Everything is already there in front of you — all you have to do is craft and polish it to perfection, like a really good carpenter. Definitely an art, and so much fun.
