Try this for productivity and balance [The Writer’ s Life]( June 20, 2022 "Some people dream of success, while other people get up every morning and make it happen." – Wayne Huizenga Happy Monday morning, {NAME}! You may or may not know this about me … But I love Mondays β€” and I also love mornings. 😁 I think it's because of a trick I've picked up from numerous successful people … James Clear in Atomic Habits, Richard Koch in The 80/20 Principle, Timothy Ferris … I make sure to accomplish a lot of small wins right away. So that no matter what else I accomplish in the day, I feel like it was successful. It also forces me to tackle my #1 priority: writing. My morning routine is simple: 6:00 – Wake up, brush my teeth, make my bed (if you don't make your bed, try it for a week. I swear this "quick win" first thing has magical powers.) 6:15 – Meditate using Headspace and fill out my 5-minute journal. 6:35 – get the kids ready for school (or during the summer let them sleep!). Around 7:30 I start my writing routine … which ironically starts with reading or listening while walking to a self-development book. I've learned if I prime the pump first, the writing comes easier. (I'm currently listening to: Daring Greatly by Brene Brown.) Then by 8:00, armed with coffee, water, a notebook, and my laptop, I sit down to write. Email, IM, phone … it's all off. I also haven't looked at any of it yet, and I won't until I'm done writing. Sometimes what I write is good … sometimes it's just ok … but with this routine I'm always able to write SOMETHING. By the time I step into my office for meetings and the workday, I feel good, and I've already accomplished quite a bit.
