This should help you move faster⦠[The Writer’ s Life](
May 25, 2022 "Keep your face always toward the sunshine—and shadows will fall behind you."
– Walt Whitman I made some bold predictions last year, {NAME} … Remember "The Leap?" When 10 years of projected growth in ecommerce happened in just 90 days? As a result, I predicted companies would need more content than ever before, which meant writers would feel a huge surge in demand — and income. Fortunately, I was right! 💃 I like being right. 😁 Especially when it's about you and your writing income. The writers we trained to answer the demand went on to thrive … Reporting more — and faster! — successes than we'd ever experienced in our 25 years of training writers. That's why during last Thursday's briefing, I was thrilled to show [two pretty shocking charts]( … That showed what seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for writers last year … was actually the BEGINNING of a trend. That 90-day jump that skyrocketed e-commerce all the way up to $3.5 trillion (AKA The Leap) was just the tip of the iceberg. By the time we close 2022, e-commerce will be at $5.6 TRILLION! Sit with that for a second. This huge, newsworthy, game-changing moment in time is STILL growing. And at record pace! And as the second chart showed, we're only just getting started. ([You can access my briefing and both charts here.]() As expected, digital advertising spend followed suit … Increasing by DOUBLE DIGITS in 2020 (13.2%), 2021 (29.1%), and again in 2022 (16.2%). Normally, when the market surges, the following years adjust to make up for it … But not this time! What's more, when ad budgets soar, the next metric we look at to measure writer demand is the number of jobs being advertised. I still have the slides for a briefing where I was excited to show a 33% growth in content jobs back in 2018 … Let's just say I was more excited this year. 😁 That's a 1,448% growth in companies actively advertising for content writers on LinkedIn. And keep in mind that's a SMALL part of the opportunity, but a good measurement stick, nonetheless. So, what does this mean for you, {NAME}? Besides being in the right place at the right time (holy smokes you picked it right!) … Here are some key takeaways from the briefing: More people online means more competition for businesses. Which means they need more content to stand out. And BETTER content. Content that eliminates "friction" the potential buyer has before making a buying decision. (This piece of the briefing was big — go back and take every word and use it when talking to clients. You have my permission!) Good content is a win/win/win for all. The company gets more leads and ultimately sales (yes, through content!). You get ongoing assignments that become valuable assets (another takeaway) that therefore pay extremely well. And the customer gets the information they need to make the right buying decision. Win/win/win! Content marketing is like a bonfire that constantly needs more wood (content) to keep burning. Enough said. Transition quickly from an order taker … to prescriber … to strategist. Your income will continue to grow, and you'll be indispensable to your clients. If you start with a small project, offer to spin it into various formats and charge for all of it (this is how you turn a $250 blog post into a $2,500 content package). Productize your services into packages so you can offer clients three choices. It makes it easy for you to put together proposals, identify clients who can afford you, and do the job of selling your value with no additional effort on your part. (Productizing also often increases the value of the project to you with no additional effort.) Don't work with clients you have to sell on content marketing. There are literally millions of companies you could work with (over 360K companies on LinkedIn are begging for a good content writer right now!). You don't want to waste your time "converting" anyone. Whew! Actually, here's a few more … You only need a few clients to clear six-figures a year (get those retainers up to $5,000 a month!) … You do NOT need to pick a niche as a content specialist … You CAN get incentives (royalties) on increased sales … Oh! And, often, clients who require the least amount of effort pay you the most. I ❤️ Content!! [You can watch the training and access the notes here.]( I recommend you listen to the Q&A — GREAT questions led to more valuable insights.
