January 19, 2022 Success is steady progress toward one's personal goals. – Jim Rohn Hey {NAME}, Are you feeling pressure to do something amazing with your year?!? Me too. Fortunately, you're in the right place, at the right time, right now. 2022 is setting up to be an epic year for writers … with marketing spend expected to grow by double digits … AGAIN this year! And every day you read The Writer's Life, my goal is to help you take another step forward towards dream life as a paid writer … whatever it looks like to you. Consistent forward progress is the key to success … So, even if you're still planning out your year, it's ok. Every day is just the day after the one before … no one says it MUST be on the first of the year. But if you're finding yourself at the starting block, unable – or unwilling – to make a decision on where to start, I want to help. With so many ways to make a great living as a writer, there's no "right" path … The reality is millions of companies out there need all different kinds of writing. Pretty much any path you choose can lead you somewhere amazing. The key is really just getting started. You learn a skill. Call yourself a writer. And start getting paid. Then you learn another skill and expand your services. You get hands-on experience with various projects, and notice you enjoy writing some things more than others … You pick up even more new skills … earning as you go … gaining confidence with every project completed. You'll be surprised how fast it can happen … But it all starts with learning a skill that companies value and pay you well to do. At AWAI, we work hard to identify the best-paying opportunities for writers (beginners included) … find the experts who are getting paid very well to do them … and pluck from their ranks the very best, most generous teachers to show you how it's done. Your job is simply to start with something that looks interesting. And don't worry … I promise you can't pick the wrong thing! Here's what I mean … Let's say you pick a path – we'll use UX (user experience) as the example – since we're teaching it this week. You [go through the program we just launched]( and a few weeks from now are set up as a writer who specializes in UX. Then you decide to tackle newsletters. Great! Every client you work with on their UX will either have or need a newsletter. And who better to take it over than you? Two months later, you're sometimes doing newsletters, sometimes doing UX, sometimes doing both. OR, let's say you go through the UX program … change out your LinkedIn profile, and the first client who contacts you needs you to write emails. Oh no, you chose the wrong path! Just kidding … 😉 You realize you have skills that are relevant regardless. And confidence that you can take a program and finish it. So, you say yes! Companies NEED you. Right now. They need you to start and continue conversations with prospects. They need you to convert those prospects into buyers. And they need you to ensure they remain satisfied after they've made a purchase. So just pick a path … any path … and start. A few weeks from now you'll be closer to your writing goals than you are right now … and you'll be making steady progress towards the life you want to live as a well-paid writer.
