A Message from Shane, Member Success Representative All of us on the AWAI Team have been keeping safe and working from home for the last … however many weeks it's been at this point. While it is nice working from the comfort of my own home, it has also been an interesting exercise in adapting to a different work environment and being so sequestered. Here are a few of my own personal tips for working from and staying at home during quarantine … - Wake up earlier than you need to. I officially start work at 8:30 am every day, but I wake up at 7. I could easily set my alarm for 8:25 and groggily roll out of bed just to immediately start my day confronted by a bright computer screen. But I've found that it's much better for my productivity and mental health to give myself some time to wake up, take a shower, have some breakfast and coffee, maybe go for a short morning walk, and just relax a bit before I get working. - Keep in touch with people. The gang and I here on the Member Success Team are constantly chatting with each other through our online chat room, and not just for work related stuff. Even though I haven't seen any of them physically in weeks, by keeping in regular touch with each other it's almost as if we're still "in the office" with each other every day. And our company-wide team meeting over Zoom every week is something I always look forward to. Even if you're a freelancer who doesn't necessarily have any coworkers, staying in touch with your friends and loved ones is crucial during these new times. - Take care of yourself. I've seen lots of talk about how self-quarantining is a great opportunity for getting busy and working on that thing you've always been meaning to find the time for. While yes, that might be true, it's important not to feel pressured into keeping busy. Staying healthy, physically and mentally, should always be priority #1, especially now. If you ever feel overwhelmed, stressed, or unwell in any way … do what you need to do to put your personal well-being before your work. As always … the Member Success Team is easily available for you to reach out to by phone or email for any questions, assistance, or just someone to talk to. We're all staying at home for now, but we're still here for you.
