It’s a fantastic feeling May 22, 2024 [The Writer’ s Life]( "Celebrate what you've accomplished but raise the bar a little higher each time you succeed." — Mia Hamm Hi {NAME}, When you're first getting your writing business off the ground, it's up to you to go out and find the work. But there comes a day when something *very exciting* starts to happen. Your dream clients start coming to you … instead of you having to do all the outreach yourself. Pretty great, right? This started happening to me several months ago, and it was a fantastic feeling. How did I do it? I posted regular content on LinkedIn for my target audience. Posting on LinkedIn is my favorite way to grow my business because … - I can reach more than one prospect at a time; - each post helps me build trust; and - as my audience grows, I get more inquiries. You don't have to do anything fancy to get started with LinkedIn … You can begin just by commenting on posts of companies and people you'd like to work with. In today's featured article, you'll [learn SIX different ways to use LinkedIn to get clients.]( Brand new to well-paid writing? [You should grab this.]( It gives you FREE access to AWAI's Making the Leap program, which takes you wherever you are today … And shows you exactly how to make a smooth transition to paid writing, so you'll have success right out of the gate. No matter what though, I highly recommend you learn to harness LinkedIn like I did, so your dream clients will start coming to you, too. Rooting for you, Rebekah Rebekah Mays AWAI's 2022 $10K Challenge Winner P.S. We got a great question in from Lisa about personalized outreach and wanted to share it in today’s issue. Question from Lisa: Hi Rebekah - I am finding your AWAI series regarding proven tactics to land clients really helpful. Today's email on personalized outreach triggered a question, though. You mention that if you don't have clients yet, you should reach out to people who already know you. But what if you exhausted this route and/or don't have anyone you can reach out to? Do you have any recommendations on situations like this? Looking forward to the rest of the series... Rebekah’s Answer: Hi Lisa, glad to hear the series is helpful. And good question! I would say two things: 1) *Usually* there are still hidden opportunities in our network, even if we feel we've exhausted them already. That's where continual brainstorming can be helpful. Think about any business owners, marketers, and other creatives you know, like designers or web developers. They don't need to be in a specific niche — you just need to start getting some quick wins. Why do I insist on reaching out to people you know? I once gave this advice to a freelancer I know, and at first, she said she didn't know ANYBODY who could hire her. A few months later, she was the main marketer for her son's small business. What this tells me is that sometimes, we don't see the opportunities right under our noses because we're too close to the situation. 2) If you've truly exhausted all your personal connections, then it's totally fine to start reaching out to people who don't know you. This just takes more time & work in the early days, since the conversion rates will probably be lower compared to people who already know and trust you. Just like other marketers, copywriters want to crack the code of finding and landing clients. So, where are the floodgates to leads? Hint: It's where people have attractive headshots and talk about business — LinkedIn. LinkedIn might not be a new platform for you, but have you been using it to its full potential? The traditional advice for copywriters on LinkedIn is to "get active" on the platform, and while that's good, it's not enough.
