This is one of the most important daily practices for writers May 9, 2024 [The Writer’ s Life]( "Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days." — Zig Ziglar Hi {NAME}, Today I'm bringing back [a classic essay]( from Master Copywriter John Forde (which he graciously updated for us — thanks, John!) because reading is one of the most important daily success practices all writers should live by. THIS is how you get inspiration and ideas … This is how you learn how the greats do what they do … This is how you broaden your world and inform your thinking … And this is how you accelerate and deepen your success as a writer. And with John's list of 10 books every copywriter should read twice, you'll have plenty to get you started. 😉 How many have you already read? [Post in the comments]( — I'm so curious! And if you're ready to know — once and for all — if copywriting is for you or not … Check out this [virtual training](. You'll learn everything you need to know about our industry … All the things you can write about … Why the pay is so high … Why there's so much demand for copywriters … And the best part? You don't have to risk a penny. [Check out all the details here now …]( But do it now, enrollment closes at midnight tonight. Let's continue the conversation over in our exclusive Facebook group. At Least 10 Books Every Copywriter Should Read — Twice By John Forde On my first day on the [job as a copywriter](, master marketer Bill Bonner handed me a stack of books. A collection I've long since lost in the sea of books, tapes, and videos — only some about marketing — that followed. I read them on lunch breaks and while eating dinner. I listened to the tapes in the car. I watched the videos on a borrowed TV (I had sworn off having one of my own at the time). Many were good. Some were better. A lot repeated the same principles over and over, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Today, I'd warn any new copywriter or marketer that you're not going to get a full career education from books alone. Nothing beats hands-on experience, actually writing and reading the promotional pieces you hope to emulate and, one day, beat. Still, if you're hoping to catch up fast … if you're looking for inspiration or ideas … even if you're looking for shortcuts … there are definitely books, jammed full of both theory and examples, that can get you there. [Join Katie and Rebecca now.]( Press This to Be a More Prolific, Productive, Profitable Writer By Mindy McHorse For most of us, the practice of writing falls somewhere between a business and an art … You want to make a living from it, but don't want to restrict your creativity. You want big fees and fascinating projects, but without too many rules. And you want the freedom to take long vacations, but without working like a maniac for days beforehand. Seems like an unsolvable problem. But, I found an unlikely way to balance all of this. And to be honest, it's made me a happier, more productive, calmer, and richer writer. It will probably do the same for you. What's the solution I found? Time tracking. [Continue reading here.]( Your ALL-ACCESS Key — Just $1!
