Perfection is a myth… May 3, 2024 "If I waited for perfection ? I would never write a word."

Perfection is a myth… May 3, 2024 [The Writer’ s Life]( "If I waited for perfection … I would never write a word." — Margaret Atwood Perfection is a myth, {NAME} … It's a lesson I've learned many times already in my career … AND in my life. Here's the truth … There will never be a perfect time to launch a writing career. (So, why not do it now?) The perfect niche? You will likely change a few times. (Better to just pick one so you can move forward.) Perfect copy? Impossible. (The market always decides, and I've seen copy written by the best copywriters in the business fall short.) Isn't that a HUGE relief, though?! Perfect is way too much pressure!! So where do we go from here? I like to look for "good enough" … Don't get me wrong — I still swing for the fences … But the operative word here is swing. I take a shot. Waiting for perfection often has the opposite effect … It slows us down — sometimes stopping us in our tracks. It makes us doubt ourselves. It makes us compare ourselves. And it leads us through a cycle of never being good enough. Self-proclaimed recovering perfectionist (and wildly successful AWAI member) [Michele Peterson is here today to dig into the perfection myth …]( And release you from its grip once and for all. Or at least until it pops up again … 😉 #keeprelearning I will say, though, that experience has a lot of power in battling perfection … The longer I've been at this, the more confident I've felt to take a shot, submit the draft, or put myself out there. If you'd like experience that will push YOU forward this year, I encourage you to check out our [10 Weeks to Pro]( … You'll work with Katie and me, as well as an awesome lineup of industry experts and working copywriters, to master the fundamentals of copywriting. We'll also help you build your portfolio of samples, and land those all-important first-paid assignments, so you can start gaining real-world experience that tends to overpower the perfection gremlin. Will you be perfect once you finish? You know the answer. ;) But you'll be good enough to start making money … and feel confident enough to take the shot. And that's all you need! And yet there was often some anxiety in the mix, too. It was because I thought everything needed to be perfect. My earliest memory of enjoying creativity is coloring pictures in coloring books … I loved the smell of Crayola crayons. (Fun fact: That distinctive and unique odor comes from a derivative of beef fat, which is used to create the waxy consistency.) And the colors were a feast for my eyes. But choosing which specific color to use could be stressful. [Continue reading here.]( CLOSING: Only Accepting New Writers Until Midnight Tonight! [Get Accepted Here]( Create Your Own Diamond Hailstorm with This Writing Secret By Mindy McHorse Did you know it rains diamonds on Saturn and Jupiter? Both planets have massive lightning storms that turn methane into soot. Then the soot hardens into chunks of graphite … And from there to diamonds. Those diamonds are effectively "hailstones" that rain down throughout each planet. Can you imagine what that might look like? Or how astounding it would be if you could do the same thing anytime you find yourself strained to write and earn? Because just like Saturn and Jupiter demonstrate … pressure can have fantastic effects. With the right approach, pressure can do amazing things for your writing career.
