Grey Hi {NAME}, On a rainy Sunday afternoon, I took my two kids and one of their friends to a place called Urban Air … Complete with trampolines, climbing walls, and a ninja warrior course, it's a dream for active kiddos who love to run free. Upon exploring everything the place had to offer, the three kids piled into an attraction called Defy Gravity. The goal was to jump on a trampoline floor and pull yourself up onto a high platform. Despite their best efforts, none of them could jump high enough. After about 20 or so attempts of jumping and slamming into the soft wall, they gave up and went to explore things they could conquer. A while later, I found myself back in the room, when my daughter's friend asked me to hoist her up onto the wall. Upon seeing me do this, my son asked if I could put him on the wall too. I obliged … and the two of them were excited to "feel" like one of the bigger kids. Suddenly, my daughter enters the room, takes one look at her best friend and little brother on the wall … Runs, jumps, and pulls herself up on the wall to join them! We all looked at her with our eyes wide … unsure what just happened. They had all tried and failed in the past. Why was this time different? The brain is a powerful thing … Thinking her brother and friend had successfully made the jump … her brain now believed she could do it. So, she did. But get this … The next thing I know, my daughter's best friend jumps off the wall … Runs, jumps, and just like my daughter, makes it up the wall on her own. Having seen her friend do it, she knew for a fact it was possible. Once again, that little shift in thinking gave her everything she needed to succeed. Believing you can do something can have a massive impact on your success … Both the level and speed at which it happens. It goes beyond learning skills and gaining experience.
