I hated writing that subject line … [The Writer’ s Life]( March 18, 2024 "Keep your face always toward the sunshine—and shadows will fall behind you." – Walt Whitman Happy Monday, {NAME}. I hated writing that subject line … Especially on a Monday morning. "Thanks a lot Rebecca. Way to start the week off on a good note!" 😉 But it's a topic I want to address, because that little gremlin of a feeling has the power to derail your writing goals more than anything else. And it's something we writers (and parents, friends, children, athletes, … humans!) will face time and time again throughout our lives. But here's what you need to remember: success is not a straight line. There will be hills and valleys … wrong turns … lessons learned … and wonderful surprises that take you somewhere unexpected or boost you forward faster than you could ever imagine. Life WILL disrupt your "plan" if it hasn't already. Probably numerous times this year alone! From time to time, you will feel like you're failing. But here's the thing … Knowing it will happen gives you massive power. In fact, you can even plan on it. During today's Monday Morning Jumpstart, Jade is joined by a new guest … our very own Learning Chief, Pam Foster. Despite her naturally sunny disposition (which she credits to her British mum), they tackle some "what to do's" when things aren't going as planned. But I also want to share a [second Monday Morning Jumpstart]( with you today … It's one of the first Jumpstarts we ever did with Ted … when we were "trying out a new idea." 🙂 In it, Ted and I discuss the anxiety that comes with feeling like we're not making the progress we want with our goals … And what to do if we feel like we're already failing. The truth is you are NOT failing. Every minute you spend immersed in honing your craft and building your writing business is a step forward … Think of it as a sequence of steps. Your goal right now, and always, is simply to do the next right thing. Don't know what that is? If you're brand new and not yet making money, [take this 3-hour training](.
