See the Impact: The ACA at Avid Connect Avid Connect 2017 Highlights We are still overwhelmed by the momentum felt at Avid Connect 2017, our fourth annual Connect event. You could feel the energy and excitement building as more than 1,300 attendees from over 44 countries and nearly 600 organizations joined us at the Wynn to hear our revolutionary announcements in-person, network with media pros, attend breakout sessions, and overall, help us push the limits of the media industry even further. During the opening session, Louis Hernandez, Jr. shared [a number of key announcements](, from the launch of [Media Composer | First]( and the native integration of [Dolby Atmos in Pro Tools]( to new services on our industry-leading MediaCentral Platform. But the high point of the morning came when Louis unveiled a strategic partnership that was months in the making—a [partnership with Microsoft]( to help bring Avid Everywhere into the cloud. Throughout the rest of Avid Connect, attendees participated in over 30 breakout sessions across three tracks covering all segments of the industry. Here's everything you need to know about the recent conversations that ACA leaders are having, the hottest topics for discussion, and the impact we are making as a community. - 11 ACA Board / Advisory Council / Sub Committee Meetings were held just prior to Avid Connect - A new Technology Advisory Council was launched and met for the first time - A Graphics Sub Committee met for the first time Executive Board of Directors: Formal resolutions included changes to Advisory Council Leadership, the creation of the Technology Advisory Council, dissolution of the Community and Standards & Practices Advisory councils, and the election of new members to the Board as follows: - Mick Audsley, Feature Film Editor, Sprocket Rocket Soho - Kari Grubin, VP, Mastering, The Walt Disney Studios - Domenic Rom, President and General Manager, Deluxe TV Post Production Services - Brinton Miller, SVP - Technology Strategy & Architecture, Discovery Communications - Jonathan Wales, CEO, Wildfire Sonic Magic Partner Advisory Council: Discussed a plan for Certified Partner Program updates in 2017, new Specializations and the role of the Avid Reseller, Channel Marketing & Enablement (including COOP tools, lead initiatives, and Co-branded tools), and Digital Enablement. Products & Solutions Advisory Council: Reviewed the outcome of the ACA Vote, NAB announcements and Sub Committee highlights before transitioning into solution-focused Sub Committee breakout sessions for Asset Management & Storage, Audio, Fine Filmmaking, Graphics, MAM, and Video.
