SECOND ANNUAL ACA VOTE: NOW OPEN Last year’s inaugural ACA Vote has led to action from Avid, with over 60 of the items requested last year already delivered—and more to come. Share your priorities on products, solutions, and future focus areas, and experience this unstoppable momentum. - Round 1 | Open now – Feb 2, 2018 (full candidate list, plus write-ins) - Round 2 | Feb 19, 2018 – Mar 9, 2018 (top results from Round 1) - Results | April 6-8, 2018: Experience the results live at Avid Connect Q4 LEADERSHIP MEETING UPDATES Audio Sub Committee (October 18): Members of the ACA Audio Sub Committee and other special guests joined Avid in conjunction with AES for a strategic discussion on Audio related product updates, and to collect feedback on future direction. Attendees were asked to provide their input on various features, including: Synchronization and Networked Audio, Folder Tracks, Music Workflows, folders in the Clips List and metadata management. Technology Advisory Council (December 6): This meeting kicked off with a review of the updates made to deployment technology, where folks from Avid shared the Enterprise Deployment Tool release and plans for cloud native deployments. While reviewing the topics of Cloud, Virtualization and Connectivity, the group was informed of released and announced technology for DNxIP and FastServe IP, and provided their feedback on broadcast IP technologies being investigated. Regarding the Developer Toolkit, Avid shared progress on the starter tools & new APIs, where there was strong interest from members to get access to APIs for customization. The discussion ended with a security deep dive. In conclusion, Council members were positive about supporting the DNxHR/SMPTE VC-3 addition to the IMF mastering package. The committee was most excited about the progress made to Avid’s Developer Toolkit API to access Asset Management Services (CT-MS) and Democratization of Master Program publishing using DNxHR for OTT distributors such as Netflix and Amazon. Video Sub Comittee (December 12): The meeting began with an update on the [second annual ACA Vote](, where committee members where shown their feedback to certain vote items as they currently appear in this year’s vote. Next the group discussed Media Composer releases coming in 2018, with a focus on versioning for creative products. Lastly, the group addressed topics for upcoming meetings in the new year and agreed upon the need for multiple meetings with a single focus area (Conform Tool-set, review Tile Tool, Netflix/Open EXR, IP devices and VM Workflows & versioning of sequences). The group was most excited about the layout of this year’s ACA Vote, more specifically how you can view all the completed items, status, and ranking of items carried over from the previous year while voting. Executive Board of Directors (December 13): When the Executive Board of Directors got together for their quarterly meeting, they elected Darren Long (Director of Sky Production Services, Sky) and Richard Friedel (Executive Vice President and General Manager, FOX Networks Engineering & Operations) as their new Co-Chairs. They also welcomed new members to the Products & Solution Advisory Council: Russell Long (Lipscomb University and Simon Corelli); Agustin Goya (SVC); Khan Hidayathulla (Real Image). The groups regular Q1 meeting is scheduled for February 13, 2018, where they will discuss the overall structure of the ACA in 2018. Products & Solutions Advisory Council (December 13): The Council met to discuss what’s evolved since IBC and gain insights into 2018. The meeting started with an update on the ACA, focusing on the launch of the vote, followed by an all-encompassing Avid update. In more strategic discussions, the group reviewed updates to MediaCentral Workflow Modules, MediaCentral Editorial Management, Scaling Avid NEXIS Enterprise to 6.4 Peta Bytes, Media Composer First, Avid Artist DNxIP, upcoming/recent releases to Media Composer & Pro Tools, and more. Future looking, this Council will focus on new subscription programs and cloud products. Asset Management & Storage Sub Committee (December 17): The Committee held a lengthy discussion around MediaCentral Editorial Management (a new workflow module that integrates Avid’s Cloud UX web client directly into Media Composer shared projects & bin workflow models). Additionally, the group was provided with a demo of improvements to NEXIS Bin Locking. Avid collected helpful feedback throughout this conversation. Strategy Advisory Council (December 20): This group held constructive discussions around the Avid Content Marketplace, Avid Artist Community, and conceptual architecture for how this could/would interact with Avid tools and their potential architecture. Follow up meetings are scheduled with other members of the ACA as part of the overall due diligence on the direction of the Avid Marketplace. Service & Delivery Advisory Council (December 20): The meeting opened with an update around the ACA and the launching of the second annual vote. Next, proposed dates for the Q1 meeting and other breakouts sessions were discussed, followed by an education and MAM update. Members provided much commentary around the ACSR training program. The group would like to focus their next discussion on the updated Services Engagement Model. A Professional Services breakout session is scheduled for January 24, 2018.
