Twelve-year-old girls are forced to keep rape pregnancies, while hundreds of woare abused each year

Twelve-year-old girls are forced to keep rape pregnancies, while hundreds of woare abused each year in Honduras. [SIGN THE PETITION]( Hundreds of girls and women are raped and forced into motherhood every year in Honduras, while being denied fundamental rights, like emergency contraception. Although the first ever female president can change this with just one signature, she’s under heavy pressure to give up! Join the global call to let her know we have her back and expect her to deliver on women's rights! [SIGN THE PETITION]( Dear friends, Honduras, one of the deadliest countries in the world, is a nightmare for women. 12-year-old girls are forced to keep rape pregnancies, while hundreds of women are abused each year. But things could be about to change. The first-ever female president, Xiomara Castro, just took office and could be only one signature away from revoking a horrendous ban on emergency contraceptives -- a ban that has trapped desperate women, including survivors of rape, into unwanted and dangerous pregnancies. Honduras is the only country in Latin America that bans the morning-after pill -- but the president has promised to legalise it, and all she needs is massive public support to make the call. She is under heavy pressure, so let's empower her to deliver on women's rights. Sign now to usher in a new era for women and girls across Honduras, and we will deliver directly to the president on International Women’s Day: [STAND WITH THE WOMEN OF HONDURAS]( Violence against women is one of the most pervasive human rights violations in the world. About 35% of women globally have experienced physical or sexual violence, both intimate partner violence, and non-partner violence. This is even worse in Honduras. In 2017, more than 80% of pregnant women treated by Doctors Without Borders in Honduras said their pregnancy was a result of rape. But we can help end these violent pregnancies – and President Castro is one signature away from doing it. As the world commemorates International Women's Day, let's make sure President Castro understands her biggest mandate is to prioritise women's safety, security, and dignity. She can start by legalising emergency contraception, and then take up many more issues that are crucial to ensuring women's rights. Sign now and share widely: [STAND WITH THE WOMEN OF HONDURAS]( Our movement has campaigned for women's rights from Mexico to Afghanistan. Now it's time to end this ban for good, and support women's groups from across Honduras who are fighting day and night for a brighter future.
