Trump is plotting to shut down PBS -- home to beloved series like Sesame Street. But Congress needs to approve these savage cuts, so let’s make it clear that this is our money and we want to keep our PBS! [Sign the petition] Dear friends, Donald Trump will shut down PBS. To save it, we need to speak up now, in massive numbers. It’s all part of Trump’s plan to kill government funded arts, humanities, and broadcasting. But these are some of the most beautiful parts of the shared human experience. And this is our money. Congress needs to approve Trump’s budget cuts and with already historic public protest and outrage, they'll back off if it's going to cause more trouble in their districts. Tell Congress: no cuts to our arts, humanities, and public broadcasting! [Sign to Save PBS] This exact strategy caused Donald Trump to reconsider an Executive Order attacking LGBT equality. And we need to act fast, because he's about to launch the most extreme restructuring of government in US history -- taking a budget created for him by the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation and instituting it piece by piece. And now they want to dismantle a cornerstone of our public life. PBS has never been more important. In an era of "fake news" -- where for-profit media often sacrifices truth for ratings and political influence -- independent, accountable, public media is our best hope for accurate information in critical times like elections! Ultra-conservative groups have long targeted public broadcasting and federal arts programs, but again and again, elimination proposals have been rejected by both Democrats and Republicans. Still, this administration's agenda is more extreme than any we’ve seen and these programs, vital to our communities, are in serious jeopardy. They won’t survive without us. [Sign to Save PBS] Donald Trump wants to remake America and he’s moving fast to dismantle so much of what truly does make America great. Let’s stand together and tell our Congress that they answer to us, not him.
