Dirty Ugly Toy has some dark themes, yes, but it's still very much so a mainstream book. It's also a standalone. The cover is one of my favorite aspects of this book. I think the dirt over her eye really intrigues people. There's no rhyme or reason...just that I thought it looked cool ha!
