For a limited time, your first gift will be matched to help create a safer future for birds. [The Birds You Love Need Help]( We wanted to make sure you didn’t miss the opportunity to show your love for birds. Amid this code-red climate emergency, and as their very survival is threatened, the Scarlet Tanager and other birds rely on your support now more than ever. So we’re asking: [Donate Now]( [Will you start an annual donation now? For a limited time, your first gift will be matched, up to $25,000, to help create a safer future for birds, people, and other wildlife.]( [National Audubon Society]( [Show Birds The Love; Scarlet Tanager]( Scarlet Tanager. [Match Active]( [The birds we love are in trouble. You can do even more to help today.]( Love is in the air this month, and we want to make sure you remember the birds you love. Right now, they are in a code red crisis—and for migratory birds like the Scarlet Tanager that are especially vulnerable to wildfires, extreme heat waves, heavy rain and flooding, and urbanization, time is of the essence. [That’s why we’re counting on bird lovers like you to act now. When you start your annual donation today, your first gift will be matched, up to $25,000, thanks to a group of generous donors.]( [Your Gift Protects Birds; Scarlet Tanager, Piping Plover, Rufous Hummingbird illustraion]( When we conserve bird habitat, we do more than protect biodiversity—we invest in the critical carbon-reducing benefits these ecosystems provide to combat climate change. Just last year, we had a number of conservation victories for birds across the country. We restored 34 acres of salt marsh and other important coastal habitat at Great Meadows marsh alongside our partners in Connecticut. We improved habitats for birds, fish, and other wildlife alongside our partners in South Chicago by restoring more than 100 acres of wetlands. We worked to acquire and protect nearly 800 acres of high-priority and high-conservation value land in South Carolina. The birds we love need protection [Scarlet Tanager Icon.]( There are nearly 400 North American bird species at increasing risk of extinction due to climate change. [Scarlet Tanager Icon.]( That list includes beloved species like the Scarlet Tanager. [Scarlet Tanager Icon.]( Scarlet Tanagers could find two-thirds of their current breeding range unsuitable if climate change continues unchecked. It comes down to this: Where we work—and when you help—birds are better off. But with so much at stake, we can and must do more. [Show your love for birds by starting an annual donation now, while your first gift can still be matched.]( Sincerely, National Audubon Society [Donate]( Photo: Barbara J Holland/Audubon Photography Awards.
