Hello {NAME}, I've been hearing more and more about immersive audio over the past few years. In fact, almost every company at The NAMM Show in 2023 had an immersive audio speaker setup as a part of their booth. But is it all hype or is immersive audio here to stay? I think it's clear that immersive audio will continue to be improved and accepted in the film industry, because films are meant to be immersive. However, many are suggesting that music will transition to more immersive formats, as well. I'll be honest... I resisted this idea for a long time. To me, it seemed like Dolby Atmos and other immersive formats for music would be a quick fad, just as 5.1 surround for music never really caught on. But, after speaking with a recent guest on the Audio University Podcast, I'm beginning to think I may have been wrong. In this week's podcast episode, I discuss immersive audio with Thomas Görne, a professor at HAW Hamburg and an expert in the immersive audio field. He had some really interesting points about immersive audio for film, music, and the future of audio. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
