[Waversasystems]( Following the success of the original Waversa EXT series Digital Noise Isolators, KEVALIN AUDIO, North American distributor for WAVERSA SYSTEMS, invites you to explore two new audio signal enhancement devices featuring highly-effective technologies unique to the industry. [WActivator-2: active signal enhancement for all cables]( [Waversa EXT-2: passive Noise Isolator for digital cables]( While details are closely held due to patent conditions, the technologies utilized in these devices have proven highly effective for audio reproduction, producing notable improvements in both audio and video performance. In the case of the WActivator-2, the technologies employed require a 12V power source and were originally developed in relation to essential aspects of electric vehicle operations. The passive electro-magnetic technology in the new EXT-2, as for all the EXT Digital Noise Isolators, originates in a military context. [THE WACTIVATOR-2]( The WActivator-2 features a new proprietary and unique to the industry technology and can be applied to all audio cables: speaker, interconnect, power, and digital cables (except optical cables). Each WActivator-2 treats one or two cables, depending on cable diameter and distances between components. A pair of speakers will require two Wactivator-2 units. [THE WACTIVATOR-2] Each WActivator has a main body/base and a cover that slots into the base of the unit and secures the cable being treated. Like the EXT series, the WActivator is relatively small at only 163mm long, 90mm wide, and 60mm tall (~6.5in X 3.6in X 2.4in), and it weighs 2Kg (4.4lbs) total of body and cover.  Unlike the EXT Digital Noise Isolators, the WActivator-2 is an active device employing an included 12V power supply (The WActivator-1 was not marketed outside Korea). The DC powers the WActivator, which includes a PCB. The PCB incorporates a FPGA (seen at the bottom left of the photo below). To protect its proprietary technology, Waversa Systems has not disclosed the design principles of the PCB nor the functions of its components. Different colours and combinations of the LEDs attached to the PCB indicate power on and which of the WActivator’s three levels of intensity is engaged. [THE WACTIVATOR-2] (Photo of WActivator-1 PCB) The WActivator has three levels of operation, high, medium, and low. Each level of intensity produces different results depending on the cable being treated and the speakers and electronics to which the cable is attached. The user needs to experiment to find the desirable setting. The WActivator’s influence is clearly heard immediately; no break-in period is required.  As with the EXT Digital Noise Isolators, for best results the WActivator should be placed as close as possible to the system component at the receiver end of the treated cable. Note that each WActivator has two DC connections so units can be daisy-chained to increase effectiveness.  There is also a large set-screw on the front of the base. The screw is used to secure the top to hold the cable in place. Finally, there is a type C USB connection for potential future programming updates. [THE WACTIVATOR-2] As noted above, the influence of the WActivator-2 is immediately apparent and dependent upon the level of intensity selected by the user. Users are reporting that the effects are across the frequency bandwidth, reduce noise, and improve dynamics and the sense of “liveliness” of the music. While affecting the full frequency spectrum, the EXT Digital Noise Isolators are reported to have most influence on the upper-mid and high frequencies. On the other hand, reactions to the WActivator include the impression that while also affecting all frequencies, it has a more pronounced influence on the lower mid-range and bass, increasing “power” or “drive”, as well as detail and “articulation” in those frequency ranges. [THE WACTIVATOR-2] All these effects open the stage by increasing transparency, improving the veracity of instrumental and vocal timbres, and create a greatly enhanced sense of realism. One very satisfied purchaser, who has several other Waversa devices in his system, says that the WActivator-2 has an effect very similar to the EXT Reference Plus, described below.  More user feedback and professional reviews are forthcoming! [THE WACTIVATOR-2] The WActivator-2 is available at the introductory price of $2000 USD each. [Kevalin Audio WActivator-2]( Please email, text or call John Ketcham at Kevalin Audio in the US (info@kevalinaudio.com / 1-503–292–5592) OR Bob Suwary of Watchdog Digital & Audio Solutions in Canada (rsuwary@rogers.com / 1-416-844-1072) [THE EXT-2]( Waversa Systems says that the patented, passive technology employed in the EXT series forms electric and magnetic fields that reduce the detrimental influences of RFI and EMI and prevent impulse noise generated within a connected system, such as a DAC and amplifier, from flowing between components, all of which degrade the digital signal and a system’s sound quality. This proprietary Waversa technology is applied differently at each level of the series, which includes the original EXT-1, EXT Reference, and EXT Reference Plus. However, the EXT-2, which replaces the EXT-1, incorporates:  1. A higher-quality version of the patented, passive elements than its predecessor, 2. Modular chambers filled with damping material to house the passive elements, and 3. A vibration mitigating CNC milled, high-grade aluminum case.  Like the original EXT devices, the EXT-2 is small but has a big impact. Waversa quantifies the performance improvement of the EXT-2 relative to that of the EXT-1 as being by a factor of five. All versions of the EXT-2 except the HDMI version are only 100mm X 95mm X 21mm and 410g (~4 inches X 3.75 inches X 0.9 inches and 14.5 ounces). The EXT-2 HDMI is, except for the aluminum finish, almost identical to the EXT-1 in appearance. It is 85mm X 50mm X 11mm and weighs 80g (~3.5 inches X 2 inches X 0.5 inches and 2.9 ounces). Simple to place in any system, the EXT-2 provides immediate sound improvements and, with the HDMI version, video quality improvements, as well - with all these improvements much superior to those of the EXT-1 versions.  All versions of the EXT-2 connect between source and endpoint with the longest cable from the source to the EXT-2 and with a short cable (no more than 30cm/12 inches), either the high-quality one supplied with the EXT-2 or one of your own preference, between the EXT-2 and the endpoint. The key to best performance is to have the short cable between EXT-2 and the endpoint. The EXT-2 is not directional, so it does not matter which port is used for incoming and outgoing signals. There are no third-party reviews of the EXT-2 available yet, but Kim Pyeon, Audio Columnist for HiFi Club, South Korea, had this to say about the EXT-1 (translated): Waversa’s WLAN Isolator showed a clear sound quality improvement effect by removing electromagnetic noise from a LAN cable. The biggest change was that the stage background became quieter and every note defined, followed by a wider sound stage, an increased sense of space, and energy; especially the low-frequencies were revived. Read HiFi Club’s full review of the EXT-1 [HERE](.  HiFI Club also performed their own measurements on the EXT Reference model. In addition to the measurements, the text accompanying the test results has some very interesting things to say about digital transmission speeds. The test results are available [HERE](, translated from the Korean.  Users of the EXT-1 who have replaced their units with the EXT-2 all concur with Mr. Pyeon on the various ways the EXT-2 enhances their digital playback and are unanimous in reporting that the EXT-2 is unambiguously, significantly superior to the EXT-1 in all those audio aspects. LAN, USB AND HDMI VERSIONS IN STOCK All versions: $695 USD each EXT-1 EXT-1 LAN internal (Photo courtesy of HiFi Club) EXT-1 HDMI   [Get Great Hifi Streaming for your HiFi system!]( [THE EXT REFERENCE]( Larger and heavier than the EXT-1, the EXT Reference series employs more advanced technology than the EXT-1, and the gains it provides are significantly greater. The Reference series has a model for each of LAN ethernet, USB, and three different Coax connections, RCA, BNC and AES/EBU. To give a sense of what the Reference is about, here are some excerpts from a post by one new owner in Europe on What's Best Forum: I only listened to both filters for a short while and after I had recovered for the shock of the price differential [between EXT-1 and Reference], it was a no-contest decision. As I said, the Reference’s benefit was a wow. The sound stage was bigger, the control and tightness of the bass were impressive, with more detail and a lower noise floor. So clean and smooth... For its size it is surprisingly heavy. Over 3kgs. It feels good in the hand. ...more resolution of fine detail and speed/dynamics: more "alive" and bass is tighter and punchier. EXT Reference HiFi Club has also released a preliminary review of the EXT Reference series and highly recommends it. Read HIFI Club’s review of the EXT Reference, including test results, [HERE.](  The first North American professional review of the Waversa Digital Isolator series was published in October 2022. "Getting the Harmonic Structure in Digital Streaming Done Right" An excerpt from Stereo Times’ review of the EXT-1 and EXT Reference: The improvements brought by the LAN EXT-1 and EXT Reference were heard and demonstrated. The impact of electromagnetic and impulse noise on the sound of digital systems is beyond what I ever imagined. Optimizing the position of these ground-breaking components is critical to experiencing their full effect. I know no other component that does what Waversa Systems does to improve network audio streaming. Prior to the review, I was torn between adding another Ethernet switch with its cascading effect or adding a LAN filter. The overall cost and performance benefit of each approach must be considered. The LAN filter eliminates the need for another linear power supply, power cord, and DC cable to power the LAN switch, which in my system, would cost around $2100. The EXT Reference now becomes comparable in cost to a high-end Ethernet switch with all of its necessary accessories. I have chosen the Waversa EXT Reference to be an integral part of my digital streaming system and will nominate it for a Stereo Times Most Wanted Component award.  Highly recommended.  [Mike Girardi, Stereo Times, October 2022]( [THE EXT REFERENCE PLUS]( The Reference Plus is the top-of-the-line Waversa EXT digital noise isolator and is currently available for LAN Ethernet only. The Reference Plus boasts the most sophisticated application of Waversa’s proprietary technology, and the results are truly impressive. Customers are thrilled: When I first saw reviews of the Waversa EXT it piqued my interest. When I called John Ketcham to inquire about the unit he noted that many users retained and purchased their units after being given a ‘test run’. John suggested that I try the Waversa EXT Reference Plus as it would be a good match for my DAC and streamer. The unit arrived in short order and was easily and quickly installed. Giving it the usual pause, I sat to listen expecting the usual hours of comparison of having to take the unit in and out of my Ethernet source. Boy was I surprised! Within mere seconds there was an immediate and very noticeable  difference. Not the usual ‘difference’ but a huge positive improvement in all areas. What I immediately noticed was better control and delineation of base, much wider soundstage with greater depth and instrument delineation and positioning. I should note, all of this is delivered in a totally natural way,  without any hint of over emphasis or exaggeration. Totally real! I never realized that the output of Ethernet could be so corrupted by RF and EMI and more importantly, have such a negative impact on the resulting sound. Astonishing! This single device has transformed my digital source. I can totally recommend the Waversa EXT Reference Plus without any hesitation. This is a truly remarkable product!  D. R. The Reference plus is amazing! Somehow it removes 'digital' distortion (that I didn't hear before) ... increased tonal purity, lower noise floor and real 3-D.  D. A.  More playing around... Ref Plus is better than daisy chained References. How to describe it... everything a pair of Refs do but more "drive"(immediacy?), "attack", "richness" of harmonic structure of every instrument, separation of instruments and voices but keeping "musicality" - I've never had such a sense of musicians, stage, alive in front of me - 'like in the studio' says my drummer friend... with the addition of the Ref Plus the air in the room is alive with the vibrations of the instruments' wood, wire, brass - with the breathing presence of the vocalist(s). Absolutely lovely. Use the short Waversa in-house built cable for best result. 👍?/strong>👍  A single original isolator is a lovely enhancement; a single Reference builds on that, providing more air, separation, stage, articulate bass; daisy chained References more than double those effects, opening-up and enlivening everything; the Plus is transformative.  G. S. Kevalin Audio is extremely pleased to make these exceptional, ground-breaking devices available to North American audiophiles.
