The Consumer Staples (XLP) sector not only had its worst day since January on Thursday, it has also steadily declined in market cap share compared to the S&P 500 since March 2009, according to Bespoke Investment Group. Based on historical data, Consumer Staples continues to underperform compared to broad markets over the next month, three months and year.
