[View this email in your browser]( Statement from The Office of Honorable Michael Blake To witness a moment that has never occurred before should give us pause to reflect on its magnitude. To realize that despite the absolute grandeur of our remarkable country and indescribable world that today we finally have a first requires a level of appreciation that one statement cannot fully convey. That said, with truest humility for the depth of herstory just achieved, we now can say Congratulations to Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on her confirmation as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. I will focus only on the magnificence of this stellar and brilliant Black woman with my words, for choosing to spend any energy towards to the racist and sexist vitriol will lessen the moment that she deserves. To President Biden for his nomination, to Vice President Harris for her presence in actualizing the moment, to Senate Majority Leader Schumer for his dedication, to Senate Judiciary Chair Durbin for his steadfast discipline and to the people of Georgia whose election of Senators Warnock and Ossoff gave us the chance for this once in a lifetime achievement, we say thank you for the honor of being on this journey for Justice. I write these words while in Washington, D.C. preparing for conversation among some of the best and brightest of the Rodel and Crown fellowship of the Aspen Institute demonstrating that we can all realize the calling of her higher angels. But, while that is symbolic of the moment, it pales in comparison to knowing that my Goddaughter Rebekah is in Washington, D.C. with her fellow students at the same time that a Black Woman named Ketanji has just been confirmed as the next Supreme Court Justice. You can't tell us that we are not moving forward as a people. Congratulations to Judge Jackson. Justice is finally coming to all.
