[View this email in your browser]( Statement on President Biden’s 2024 DNC Remarks This could not have been an easy night for President Biden, but with his usual grace, humility, and compassion he showed once again that his only aim is to selflessly serve our great nation. As his daughter Ashley made clear in her moving remarks, Joe has endured such great sorrow, and it is because of that painfully gained perspective that he has such a heart for others – unlike so many who have served. The President cemented his legacy of service tonight, and history will forever remember him for putting democracy and country above his own career by ending his election bid to elevate a prepared Black woman. As Kamala Harris said in her joyous, surprise appearance, “Joe, thank you for your historic leadership, for your lifetime of service to our nation, and for all you will continue to do. We are forever grateful to you.” President Biden’s leadership challenges us all to live up to the principles enshrined in our founding documents, and we know Kamala Harris is a worthy heir to build on his legacy and create her own as the first Black woman to lead this great nation. As Vice President, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden brought our economy roaring back after the pandemic ground our lives to a halt. Now we have the lowest Black unemployment rate in history, and 800,000 new manufacturing jobs – many of them union, because Joe and Kamala understand that it was unions that built the middle class. Together they made historic investments in infrastructure to shore up our roads and bridges and tackle climate change. Together, they took on pharmaceutical companies and dramatically lowered prescription drug costs and capped insulin at $35 a month for millions of Americans. As President, Kamala Harris will lead our country towards greater freedom with that same joy, compassion, and empathy for others. Unlike Donald Trump and JD Vance, Kamala Harris understands that leadership is about fighting for others – not with each other. So where President Biden helped “restore the soul of our nation,” Kamala Harris will help us soar even higher.
