Michael’s Motivation The last eight days are the epitome of turning Chronos into KAIROS. How do

[View this email in your browser]( Michael’s Motivation The last eight days are the epitome of turning Chronos into KAIROS. How does someone use their chronological time to have opportunities to create moments. Of course, Vice President Harris stepping up to immediately declare that she is running for President fulfills this definition perfectly. However, more people also met to the moment. From 44,000 Black Women and allies on a Sunday night to 53,862 Black Men and Allies the next night to the hundreds of thousands throughout the course of the week, people just answered their own call. We didn't wait. We organized. We mobilized. We demonstrated the beautiful power of not focusing as much on what happens if I don't do this to perfection but rather, I feel perfectly at peace because I did something! On Sunday, millions were motivated to realize their KAIROS. We saw modern day Freedom Fighters for Justice who marched to demand justice for #SonyaMassey who was murdered by a vigilante police officer. We witnessed the courageous coalition in Venezuela who went to the polls to demand change from a Dictator. We smiled as golf carts filled the streets of The Villages in Florida of season citizens who have more fire in the belly to make herstory! We tuned in as Olympians pursue their global dominance to ascend onto the medal stand. In moment after moment after moment, we are watching people ready to seize THEIR MOMENT, THEIR KAIROS. So just be ready. Be encouraged. Be fulfilled. Be not afraid. As we don't know when our number is called or in what condition life shall find us. But, when the call comes and you have the feelings inside creating some doubt and indecision, lean on your faith, embrace that you are called for such a time as this and remember: Don't Wait. You're ready for YOUR KAIROS. After the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol building, Fortune 100 companies across the country pledged to stop donations to some key Members of Congress who voted to not certify the 2020 election and/or who supported the insurrection efforts. However, three years later, many of these companies have reneged on these promises and continue supporting these bad actors. FPLA is targeting 18 companies across the country that went back on their commitments and have created “scores” for those corporations based on how long it took for them to go back on their promises, how much money they donated to anti-democratic lawmakers, and how many legislators received donations over $10,000. The companies included in the campaign are: AFLAC, AT&T, Boeing, Chevron, Cigna, Comcast, Delta Air Lines, ExxonMobil, FedEx, Home Depot, Lockheed Martin, Marathon Petroleum, Pfizer, Raytheon, UPS, Verizon, and Walmart. As Faith in Public Life Action has weighed the most strategic efforts that our multifaith, multiracial national coalition and state cohorts of grasstops faith leaders could make, we came to the conclusion that one of the most important interventions we could make is a moral call to the business community to end support for anti-democratic efforts that fuel authoritarian energy and support. Our multifaith work is tied to sound economic stewardship of resources that contributes to a more just and equitable society in which every person can live into their full identities. The ABA’s Civil Rights and Social Justice Section's Perfecting Democracy Project is an effort to proactively engage ABA members and all Lawyers in the voter protection and engagement process. The Democracy Project is dedicated to educating, motivating and engaging lawyers to protect the right to vote by ensuring equal access to the ballot in all forms, including before registration through Election Day. The Project will work across entities including with the non-partisan Election Protection program to enable ABA members to get involved in protecting our democratic process. [Sign Up Today!]( There’s still time to sign up for the[5th Annual Critical Race Theory Summer School](.
