[View this email in your browser]( Michael’s Monday Motivation Throughout the course of one day, on average, a person speaks 16,000 words. From "How are you?" to "What's on your mind?", we often speak quickly. But, are we equally excited to Listen? Not Hear. Not wait for someone to finish so you can say what you're already thinking. But truly LISTEN. Within your heart, mind and spirit! Last week, I had many life changing conversations where I learned more not from speaking but listening. We all grow when we listen - To our partners, our doctors, our friends...even our detractors. From each scenario, we grow from listening. This week, This Day, This Moment - Instead of focusing on what you are going to say, let your energy be centered on a core principle - As the signs are being shown to me, am I really ready to listen? 100 Days From Convening for the Culture August 12-15, 2024 Our signature annual event, “Convening for the Culture,” provides an opportunity for leaders of color to gather during one of the Black community’s most prominent weeks of leadership activation each year. About 200 of the nation’s leaders and change makers of color and their allies attend the four-day event on Martha’s Vineyard focused on relationship building, ideation, deal flow and partnership development. We have good food and we invite great people. We hope you will be among them. Until early 2021, Cornale served as the Deputy CEO at the DNC, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the DNC's communications, opinion research, fundraising, and data and technology work. Prior to serving at the DNC, Cornale managed DNC Chair Tom Perez’s successful campaign to lead the Democratic Party, an effort that raised a seven figure sum in just six weeks and resulted in a come-from-behind victory. Cornale is a veteran of the Obama Administration, having served multiple cabinet secretaries as a speechwriter and as the Deputy Chief of Staff to then-Labor Secretary Tom Perez. Cornale is also a veteran of the 2008 and 2012 Obama campaigns with experience in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, and the 2016 campaign of Secretary Hillary Clinton in North Carolina. Cornale earned his degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While at the University of Wisconsin, Cornale spent time working for State Senator Mark Miller (D-Madison). He is a native of Madison, WI, and an obsessive follower of the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. Cornale serves as a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin, teaching a political science course on the evolution of media and its impact on presidential campaigns and governance. He lives in Washington, D.C., with his fiancé and their two dogs, Layla and June. -and- Ramon Clemente I've always had the desire to help, I understand what my last name means to the people of Puerto Rico and it's something I didn't want to shy away from. In 2022 I really wanted to set a path to make an impact, along with the help of other like-minded individuals we started the Ramon Clemente Days of Giving, where we did a number of community project like feeding the homeless, taking the children of an orphanage to the movies, hosting our veterans to some of our BSN games (the basketball league in Puerto Rico), we spoke at the National Guard Challenge academy for at risk youth, we spoke at a juvenile facility behind the wall. This quickly lead us down a path of discovery that mental health is one of the main issues we need to address. Life is hard, and you need to have a clear mind to make good decisions and set yourself up for success, but we are missing a critical role and it's to learn to identify when someone is having mental health issues and provide resources. This is where the Push 100 Foundation comes from. I know there are a lot of great leaders doing amazing things, but I believe my story resonates at a different level, I dropped out, I had to earn my GED, I went from community college to D1 basketball and now 15 years as a professional. I'm not afraid to share my story, with the goal of helping people with their own wellness and resilience. What makes me different is that I am reachable, I am available, I don't have a large team, most of the time organization are dealing directly with me, this is the brand of leadership I hope to build a legacy on. The Democratic Mayors Association is a network of the nation’s most innovative leaders The Democratic Mayors Association represents Mayors across the country who have a common vision for progress and inclusive growth in their communities. We mobilize Democratic Mayors on behalf of progressive issues and values and bring Democratic Mayors together with a united voice to take on some of the most important challenges we face. Through our Mayors Alliance program, we convene Mayors with Leaders from Labor, the private sector, progressive organizations, and others to discuss creative solutions and innovative ideas. We speak to the real impact of policy choices, and how the true consequences of decisions made in Washington affect our cities and real people. Our Mayors Alliance program provides leaders in the private sector, organized labor, progressive organizations, and advocacy groups with the opportunity to partner with us and build relationships, share ideas, and engage with Democratic Mayors. We work with our Alliance Members to elevate new ideas and best practices, advocate for better policy, and continue to stimulate progress in our cities. We rely on these strong partnerships to ensure success for America’s cities. We actively recruit new Alliance Members to continue to expand our network, better support Democratic Mayors and increase the impact of our organization. [DMA Brochure]( [Contribute]( Governor Moore is excited to be hosting the Democratic Governors Association's Spring Policy Conference set for May 16th-18th here in Baltimore. I'm writing to few updates. First, attached is the most up to date schedule for the conference, and the updated sponsorship package as well.  The conference is a significant priority for Governor Moore, and an excellent opportunity to spotlight companies doing business in Maryland, and highlight all the positive work happening in Baltimore over the past year. An excellent schedule is coming together -- there will be policy programming opportunities in addition to opportunities to network with Governors and their staffs, and of course to attend the Preakness. We are excited to be joined by 8 other Governors so far -- Governors Walz (MN), Kelly (KS), Cooper (NC), Shapiro (PA), Beshear (KY) Mills (ME), Murphy (NJ), and Evers (WI) in addition to Governor Moore of course. We expect to confirm a few more Governors in the next few weeks as well.  It's set to be a special weekend in Baltimore, and we hope you'll consider joining as a sponsor. Thank you again for your consideration, and more updates to follow! We have some exciting events coming up, and we wanted to make sure to share the details with you. The full list of upcoming events is below for your review. We hope to see you at one of them, and we’d of course be very appreciative if you could share these events with your friends and family who might be interested in joining us.
