Hi {NAME}, Judge Amy Coney Barrett is now Justice Amy Coney Barrett. Never mind the fact that we’re a week out from the election, that over 50 million votes have already been cast, and that the majority of Americans said they wanted the next president to choose Justice Ginsburg’s replacement. Senate Republicans just don’t care. As of writing, FiveThirtyEight gives Democrats a 73% chance of retaking the Senate. Barrett’s nomination process has galvanized progressives across the country, and the ill-gotten gain the GOP fought so hard for could now be their undoing on Election Day. But thanks to Justice Barrett, we could now lose the Affordable Care Act. Donald Trump has made it clear that’s his goal, saying of the Supreme Court on 60 Minutes: “I hope they end it, it’ll be so good if they end it.” Barrett has already gone on record criticizing the SCOTUS decision to uphold the law, and the high court is set to hear arguments on the future of the ACA two weeks from today. {NAME}, we want to elect as president the man who fought shoulder-to-shoulder with Barack Obama to expand health care for millions of Americans. We want to flip every single flippable seat in the Senate and make sure Republicans never get to do anything like this again -- and that we have a team of progressive, diverse lawmakers ready to protect the American people from whatever SCOTUS does next. We want to throw everything we have into protecting health care, now at its most vulnerable point -- but right now, we’re very short of our grassroots fundraising goal. If you’re like us, this entire sequence of events has seemed grossly unfair. The way Republicans ignored Justice Ginsburg’s final wish and their own precedent from the Obama years. The way ACB was fast-tracked to a lifetime appointment with record-setting speed, even though the GOP has been dragging their feet on relief measures for months. The way Trump is going to get to destroy Obama’s legacy, even if we beat him. [Well this is the time to make things fair. It’s time for us to act now to ensure Joe and Kamala take the White House, Democrats take the Senate, and no one takes your health care away. We are flooding every race we can with all the resources we have -- and you can be the reason our work goes further by giving what you can RIGHT NOW. There’s just no time to waste. If we want our power back, we’ll need to take it.](/SUaFnwcX7gStjBdOMkXx3BAjHLOk9t1tMnZ0OkMq3WA=?refcode=ASP_20201027_GEN_FDR_B) Thank you for giving progressives the help they need to get over the finish line, get into Washington, and get started on reversing the worst of Trump’s policies. The change we need so desperately will happen because of committed supporters like you.
