Our response team has been on the ground assisting in the rescue of over 90 dogs! You can support these efforts and help protect vulnerable animals with an urgent gift today. [BREAKING NEWS]( [90+ Dogs Rescued from Deplorable Conditions]( At the request of the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Vernon Township Police Department, we were on the ground this week in Vernon Township, New Jersey, assisting in the rescue of more than 90 dogs from a self-described animal rescue group. [The animals, including young puppies, were found living in filthy conditions among their feces and urine and exposed to high levels of ammonia.]( Some of the animals had dirty, severely matted coats, including one dog who was found with metal nails matted into his fur. Some dogs were underweight and had untreated medical conditions including eye infections and injuries. Several dogs were living in cars, and sadly, deceased dogs were also found on the property. [Donate]( [Our teams worked quickly to transport these dogs to the ASPCA Cruelty Recovery Center, where they will receive medical and behavioral treatment and enrichment.]( We also assisted with operational planning, evidence collection and crime scene processing, and are currently conducting veterinary forensics exams and behavior evaluations of the animals. The property owner has been charged in a criminal complaint with 6 counts of animal cruelty charges relating to both the deceased dogs found on the property as well as the failure to provide the animals with necessary care. As this case unfolds, we are also providing investigative and legal assistance to further support the investigation and prosecution and to ensure the best legal outcome for the animals. [Donate]( [Though these animals are now safe, their journeys toward healing and recovery have only just begun.]( As they heal, we hope that they can count on people like you to be by their side. During times like these, our teams must act quickly, and support from animal lovers and compassionate supporters goes a long way. [Please make a lifesaving gift today to support all our efforts to help rescue and protect animals from cruelty.]( The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) impacts hundreds of thousands of animals each year through our work rescuing animals, securing adoptions, providing medical and rehabilitation treatment, and driving significant legislative change that protects their lives and welfare. By receiving ASPCA emails and taking action on behalf of animals, you are helping make this lifesaving work possible. Take a look at our latest news [here](.
